Awful serviceThey said they had the best roofers, I think they used sets of new roofers just hired off the street with no trainingOne guy fell of the roof leaving my address roped of as a crime scene for some timeThe skylights were not installed over the new sheathing as they should have beenAfter one year of many calls they fixed one because it had other problems such as near by flashing on the chimney was put back the wrong way driving a large flow of water in the houseI gave them a chance to settle, it would not have covered doing the remaining skylight properly plus there are other leaks & a number of nails trampled into the roofVery sad excuse for a responsible or good companyI thought you had to have insurance to work in the town of Truro? Why not use it to insure the work is done properly?

Summer 2015 we needed to install a new roof so we looked at a number of roofing companies. One of them was Reliable Roofing, they seemed professional and were price competitive so we made the decision to go with them.
A week later I received a call from Reliable Roofing letting me know that a large green dumpster and shingles would be delivered on a Wednesday, we made arrangements to make room in our driveway, the dumpster arrived and the new shingles were neatly piled and placed on our roof as scheduled. I was called by their manager that the roofing team would arrive on Friday to complete the work. Friday morning came and no one showed up, I called around noon and was told due to rain they cancelled, (it did not rain in Dartmouth). I was told that the team would arrive on the following Monday, again no show, I was told due to weather they would not be coming out, (again it did not rain in Dartmouth). I took time off work both days in the morning to wait for the team to arrive. Tuesday morning the team arrived at 7:30am , the two installers seemed knowledgeable and friendly and by 8:30am they had removed half of the old existing tiles, feeling relieved I went to work. Around 3:30pm Tuesday afternoon I received a call from [redacted] the manager informing me that the job was complete and that he wanted to be paid, so I paid him in full using a credit card, in hindsight I should of held back a percentage however I trusted the company and their people.
Arriving home that night the roof looked good as I drove up the driveway, my wife said to go take a look at the back deck, I went out on to our back deck to find plastic bags belonging to the new shingles , scrap tile, roofing nails and sheet metal strewn about. I took pictures and a video, my instinct was to clean up the mess however my wife said not a chance, they said after the roofing job was complete they would clean the site as per the quote, so my wife called [redacted] who came out the next morning to attempt to clean up the mess and apologized telling us that the guys could not enter the backyard because the gate was locked. We do not have a lock on our gate? The large dumpster remained in our driveway another two days after the install.
The very first rain I was concerned yet all seemed OK, no leaks! Then I looked out our front window and saw water leaking between the eavestrough and the fascia, I called [redacted] who told me my eavestroughs were probably filled, so in the rain I went up onto the roof and both front and back eavestroughs were filled with you guessed it, roofing nails, old tiles, sheet metal and grit from the new tiles, I took another video and cleaned them out, this should have been done at the completion of the installation based on their claims.
After I cleaned the eavestroughs, still no change, water was leaking between the eavestrough and fascia, I called [redacted] and he told me that it had nothing to do with the roof and that it is common problem. Prior to the install we did not have this problem. After multiple phone calls to [redacted], he finally agreed to meet, to look at the problem, he scheduled to meet on a Friday evening and he was a no show, that was almost two weeks ago! Since then we have written e-mails and left phone messages with no reply.
I went up on the roof to see for myself to see what was causing the water to leak between the eavestough and the fascia and found two problems, one they had installed a portion of the drip edge/rail incorrectly, it should protrude beyond the roof edge so that the water drips directly into the eavestrough and two, I found a portion of eavestrough had been pulled away from the fascia and was bent during the install. With no one responding to my email or phone calls, I repaired their mistakes with the drip rail and mended the eavestough, all seems to be working fine now.
As of today, I have no idea if I have any warranty, although they claim on their website 35 years for the roof tiles. The fact that no one from their Company has called to follow up, they have not returned my phone messages or e-mails, I feel as customer I have experienced poor customer service, given excuses and lied to, I had given them more than ample time to respond to our situation and nothing.

Awful service. They said they had the best roofers, I think they used 4 sets of new roofers just hired off the street with no training. One guy fell of the roof leaving my address roped of as a crime scene for some time. The skylights were not installed over the new sheathing as they should have been. After one year of many calls they fixed one because it had other problems such as near by flashing on the chimney was put back the wrong way driving a large flow of water in the house. I gave them a chance to settle, it would not have covered doing the remaining skylight properly plus there are other leaks & a number of nails trampled into the roof. Very sad excuse for a responsible or good company. I thought you had to have insurance to work in the town of Truro? Why not use it to insure the work is done properly?

I was on the Revdex.com website and noticed that Truro Reliable Roofing (TRR) has an A rating. In my opinion Truro Reliable Roofing is not even worth an * rating. In the past we used the Revdex.com website to look for Companies to do work for us but we don't anymore. In our opinion the rating has no meaning and no value especially when Revdex.com is aware that the business has negative review on Revdex.com web page. When we called Revdex.com back in 2014 about Truro Reliable Roofing they told us to try and contact the company first before they could do anything. The same year we were having trouble getting Truro Reliable Roofing to repair their poor workmanship [redacted] done by Truro Reliable Roofing. [redacted]. As suggested by Revdex.com we contacted Mr. Devouge as we were told by his manager at that time that he was the owner of Truro Reliable Roofing. Mr. Devouge gave us his word that he would make things right and replace our entire roof and tower after we had provided him with pictures and report from a building inspector. When spring came TRR kept coming up with reasons why they have not start work on our roof. Eventually we gave them a deadline and told them that after that deadline we will see them in court. In July 2015 TRR hired a company from Halifax to do the job but instead of replacing the whole roof they told the company to only do part of it. When we contacted Mr. Devouge he confirmed what the company from Halifax had told us and that's when we decided to take TRR to small claims court. Small claims court is not an easy process but we did it and we won hands down. This is what the Adjudicator wrote in his judgement, "The evidence supports the conclusion that the roofing job done by the defendant company (Truro Reliable Roofing) was appalling in its incompetence, one of the worst examples of ineptitude in roofing that I have seen as an Adjudicator, and I have dealt with more roofing cases than I care to contemplate."
Truro Reliable Roofing was represented by their lawyer/Agent [redacted]. During the court Hearing under oath [redacted] manager for Truro Reliable Roofing said that the two sections of our roof and tower were not leaking and that was why Truro Reliable Roofing decided not to replace them when the Halifax company did the other three sections. The day we went to court was a rainy day. When got home after the court hearing we received a text from our tenants in the building saying that water was coming through their ceiling. They sent pictures. The next day we went into the attic to check on the leak. The insulation right underneath the tower was soaked with water. The same was the case for the insulation under the other section of the roof that Truro Reliable Roofing had refused to replace.
[redacted] appealed the court decision. We returned to court again and set a date for Supreme Court. Two weeks before the court date [redacted] withdraw his appeal. In withdrawing his appeal [redacted] was accepting the court's decision. Truro Reliable Roofing still refused the court order and would not pay the amount due. We do not regret taking Truro Reliable Roofing to court as Truro Reliable Roofing needs to know that they cannot [redacted] without consequences. [redacted] Some businesses in Nova Scotia [redacted] because they know they are protected by the very organizations that are supposed to protect the consumers. Some companies do it so often that it seems normal business for them. They know they can get away with it. Even with a court order there is not much a consumer can do. The business can change their name or hide their income under a different business name. There is little the sheriff or authorities can do. On the other hand, however, if I had refused to pay Truro Reliable Roofing for their work the sheriff can garnished my salary as I have a job. I cannot change my name. I cannot change where I work every year. These businesses can hide but a hard working citizen cannot. Where is the justice?
