[redacted] The National Society of Leadership and Success deeply regrets the inconvenience you have experienced during your Chapter’s invitation process We understand your frustration and would like to offer an explanation as well as a revision in our policybrought about by your outreach. Each Society Chapter sets its own criteria for the nomination of students into their local on-campus chapter It is the responsibility of the local chapter to provide us with the contact information of the students selected for membership in the Society It is theresponsibility of the National Office to deliver the invitation to join the Society by sending forms of correspondenceThey are: one email letting you know you have been nominated and to expect a letter in the mail; the mailed invitation letter; and lastly a final email reminding you of the deadline date by which to accept your nomination.Because these emails are generated from our internal system and not through a mass email outlet, such as iContact or MailChimp, currently there is no systematic option to “opt out” of any correspondence other to contact us by email or phone Once notified we manually make the necessary changes however there are times when the request to remove a recipient occurs after the next scheduled release and the request and correspondence overlaps Your outreach has prompted up to further investigate our ability to build an “opt out” mechanism to be included at the bottom of the emails going forwardOur IT team is working on a solution and we will have the ability to “opt out” of further correspondence included in the emails by March 1, 2015.Again, we apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for bringing this to the attention of our Leadership Team You have been instrumental in the resolution of this issue and in creating a more positive experience nominated students will have with the Society

Review: I completed the requirements for induction in October of 2012. I had

served 4 hours of community service with the Utah Marathon and I raised 20.00$

for the Utah Food Bank as part of my fundraising contribution, as well as the

orientation, leadership training day and 3 broadcasts all approved by the team advisor. Yet I have not heard anything back for formal induction to receive my

t-shirt, award and bumper sticker, that I initially paid for before becoming a

member. I was wondering when this was to occur or what is going on with my

membership status.

Thank you for your time.Desired Settlement: To know if this is a legit program and if so when am I supposed to get inducted because I competed what was necessary to complete for induction and I paid the entrance fee. I keep trying to write the local Chapter but no one is responding back to my inquiries.

Response:

Our organization is The National Society of Leadership and Success. We are an Honorary Leadership Society that provides a leadership training program on campuses. Once the one-time $85 registration fee is paid, the member completes the following steps that are required for induction into the Society: Orientation Leadership Training Day Three speaker broadcast events Three Success Networking Team meetings Once they are completed, the chapter invites the member to the Induction Ceremony which is held on the campus, to which the member receives their induction items that include: Certificate of Membership (and plaque, if purchased it at the time of registration—additional $29) Car Decal Insignia Pin Society T-shirt If the member does not attend the ceremony, he or she must obtain it from their local chapter leaders within 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, chapter leaders must return any unclaimed induction kits back to our warehouse. At that point, it is the member's responsibility to contact the National Office to pay a $7 reshipment fee to their desired address. We do not have any records or data that the member, [redacted], contacted the National Office on the dates she specified. This complaint through the Revdex.com is the first encounter the National Office has had with Ms. [redacted] regarding her concern of not receiving her materials. Upon receiving this complaint, I have e-mailed Ms. [redacted] with a response and clarification on the matter.

Review: This organization has shady e-mail and recruiting practices. They e-mail far too frequently and put "You are not on an email list. This one email is being sent at the request of University X's chapter." at the end so that you cannot unsubscribe. It suggests responsibility lies with the chapter, but upon contacting the chapter, I learned that they claim no responsibility for handling nominations and referred me back to the national chapter. After reaching out to the national chapter via e-mail, I was told that they would remove me from the list (that they previously claimed did not exist). Two days after they confirmed I was removed, I received yet another e-mail from them. They should have an unsubscribe option and not make people run around and go out of their way to stop receiving e-mails which they never requested (nor personally provided to the organization).Desired Settlement: That their policies change so that unethical and incessant e-mail practices are no longer utilized by this pay-to-pad-the-resume 'honor' society.

Like anything in this world it is what you make of it and what you are willing to put in as far as effort. I am in the process of finishing membership with this Society and I have enjoyed the involvement that this program has provided. This was one of the first Societies that I have seen that is based on GPA along with added programs that the student has to do before being accepted. All Societies have a cost to join, but this one makes you do more than just pay a fee. I am an older student that went back to get my Master’s Degree and I have found the process enjoyable and even though I have had leadership roles all my life, what this society provides has taught me more, so if it has helped me I know it will provide younger students with many life skills that they can carry on after school.
