Review: On November**, 2014 I joined [redacted] as a member. A sales person named [redacted] did the paperwork (contract) and signed me up. I explained to [redacted] that 4 years ago, I was employeed with the [redacted] in [redacted]. After working for [redacted] as a personal fitness trainer for only 3 months, myself and another female trainer were laid off. The reason being was this fitness trainer named [redacted], called me a racial word while we were working. I reported her to staff who told me that, "you just dont seem to fit in". Since this was a pure act of discrimation, I filed a lawsuit agaisnt [redacted] in [redacted], and I was awarded a small settlement. After 4 years passed I wanted to join [redacted] in [redacted] as a member of the club. [redacted] informed me that there would be no problems or issues, and the gym is under new management, and not to feel uncomfortable. I thanked her, and paid a total of $129.99 which was taken from my [redacted] Debit card. Unfourtanley I was very ill, and in the hospital for a while, and NEVER ONCE used the club. On January**, 2015, I contacted [redacted] in [redacted] just to confirm that my club membership was still active since I was ill and have not used the club yet. A women by the name of [redacted] got on the phone, and very rudely, and unprofessionally stated to me that SHE terminated my club membership on December*, 2015. I asked [redacted] what was the reason my paid membership was terminated, and she had NO anwser for me. [redacted] went on to state that she tried to contact me to tell me so, but she could NOT find a way to reach me! This was a bold faced lie because I gave [redacted] ALL of my updated contact information when I joined the gym ([redacted] has my phone #, my address, and even my email). This can be seen in the contract itself. I beleive that [redacted] did not contact me to inform me she terminated my club membership is because she has NO valid cause OR reason as to why I cannot work out as a member of [redacted]. This was a act of clear retalation agaisnt me for wining a settlement 4 years ago at a DIFFERENT [redacted] then proceeded to tell me to, "Go join another gym.... just NOT a [redacted]". Not only is this unethical, unprofessional, a act of retalion, her actions caused me embarassment, and is also a violaton of the, 'Whistle blowers law". This is America, and who is she to demand that I join another gym.. just NOT a [redacted]. A salesperson who had been informed of the past told me not to worry, and of course you could be a member. [redacted] for personal reasons cancelled my membership without ANY just cause, ANY vaild reason, and then FAILED to inform me she did such. I told [redacted] that I would like my membership dues to be reimbursed. [redacted] responded, "I will try, but I am NOT guarentee anything". I am owed my FULL monies back, which were taken out of my account. On January**, 2015 a check of $99.00 had been mailed to me, however, I am still owed $29.99. In reality, I am owed an apoligy, and I am free to join ANY fitness club of my choice, however since [redacted] terminated my membership for no just cause, I expect a FULL reimbursement, and therefore I expect a check of $29.99 mailed to me.Desired Settlement: I would like the full amount returned to me as I NEVER ONCE even had the chance to use the club due to being hospitalzed. I would also like a letter of apoligy for terminating my club membership and purposely not informing me that she terminated my membership and I deserve to know her, "reason" for terminating my membership, AND failing to be professional and have the curtosiy, professionalism, ethics, and as a representive of [redacted] give me an honest reason of WHy she lied and stated that she could not find my contact information. IF I didnt call the club to inquire if my membership was still active since I have not been there, then when I would have went to the Gym to work out, I would have been turned away for NO REASON at the door, thus creating me stress, embarassment, and harm.

Review: I have a bad heart and suffer from [redacted]. My doctors advised me to join a health club immeditaly. Several years ago (aprox.4 years ago); I worked at a different Golds Gym as a personal fitness trainer. Myself and another female trainer were laid off. I left the Gym on GOOD terms. I worked at the Golds Gym in [redacted]. In mid Novermeber I spoke to a sales member at Golds Gym in [redacted], who signed me up as a club member. I paid a fee of $99.00 to join the gym, and $30.00 each month was withdrawn from my checkings account. Since I joined Golds Gym in [redacted] I became very ill, and was hospitalized. I NEVER ONCE used their club. on 1/**/2015, I called Golds Gym to make sure my club membership was still active. A [redacted] got on the phone, and very rudley told me that SHE terminated MY membership on 12/*/2014. She yelled at me and stated, "go join another gym, but NOT Golds Gym". Her name is [redacted]. I was confused as to why I cant work out at the gym of my choice, plus this was NOT the same Golds were I was once employed. I NEVER received a phone call, a letter, or a email from [redacted] as she has ALL my contact information. She then told me she will NOT reimburse me my $99.00 dollar sign up fee OR my $30.00 membership fee, which they took out of MY checking account. This is very unprofessional, poor, rude, bussiness tatics, at at the very least I deserve my monies reimbursed. Please help me. Thank you. [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like to be able as a paying consumer to work out at the gym of MY choice, I would and derserve to know the reason for her atitude, but I also need and deserve to be reimbursed the monies I laid out. I have ALL my recepits to back my complaint.

Review: I've been a member of my local Gold's Gym for more than a few years and for the first time I had to freeze my membership this summer due to an emergency that took me out of the country. I contacted the gym in July to freeeze my membership until further notice. When I returned home, I hadn't yet decided if I was going to continue my membership with them. When I received my bank statement in October I was shocked to find out that the gym had reinstated my membership and billed me for September and the annual fee for the coming year. After numerous phone calls, I eventually spoke with a manager, [redacted], who asked me to email her the information. I gladly did so (that was on October [redacted]. After a couple of weeks of not hearing anything back, I again called and spoke to a very rude general manager named [redacted] seemed was quite flippant in his attitude to my complaint. He attributed my frustration to, in his words, "maybe I was tired or was in a bad mood and had a headache". I asked him why they reinstated my membership and how could they bill me for a new year when I hadn't renewed the membership? He said, "they are running a service just like Time Warner and they can bill whether or not the customer ever shows up" or calls them to discontinue the membership. He said he might, "as a favor consider crediting me for the month of October". Subsequent to that, I escalated the compaint by contacting (emailing) the Regional Mgr., [redacted] on Oct. [redacted]. Miss [redacted] responded to my email by confirming what the GM [redacted] had said. They would consider issuing a credit for October only. To date I have not received any credit or any correspondence from Gold's Gym.Desired Settlement: I think it's despicable the way this company is treating a loyal customer like myself. They have no right to charge me for services that I didn't authorize. I want the charges for the month of September and October along with the annual fee refunded to me.
