I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 10783004, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Advocate has always taken payment via automatic debit from bank account, so I never have received an invoice.  I have no way of knowing if in fact I was notified of  this provision of the subscription.I appreciate the extension of my subscription, but am NOT AT ALL HAPPY that I will be charged in the future.  I will probably cancel subscription rather than take vacation suspension.

I was woke up at 4am, with my dogs going crazy, I grabbed my flashlight and pointed it towards the direction my dogs were looking and saw a person on my property at 4am in a wooded area over 200 feet from the road where they are supposed to deliver papers with a hoody on, holding a electronic weapon harassing my dogs and me its called gang stalking, covert gang harassment, electronic torture, I run a alternative media channel on YouTube Conservative exposing Geoengineering, Man Made Weather and the dangers of vaccines etc, maybe he was attempted murder me who knows I have had many problems before that the police would not take serious and refused to file reports, when I saw a weapon I turned my dogs loose grabbed my gun and he started running towards my neighbors house through thick brush as the dogs chased him, he jumped in his car and then tried to run over my dogs I fired a warning shot far away from him, and not at him, so he would not run over my dogs I shinned a light on him as he passed and told him I've got your license plates he took off... This was in Abita Springs, I told my rental tenant what happened and he said the guy was in his front yard also on a private road a few minutes before I saw him...my question is who gets the New Orleans Advocate in Abita I do not know anyone, I did not call the police right away but later the police showed up and arrested me for defending my family, dogs, property etc. I look up the owner and he is a liberal democratic and I am a Right Conservative I read about Hitler and Nazi agents gang stalking his people? is this happening in America are we that divided that the Owner of a Newspaper would allow his delivery people to Gang Stalk Harass anyone who opposes there views, I have had my YouTube Channel Taken down 6 times for no reason, I was pro trump and the owners of GOOGLE do not like TRUMP so they attack us, I thought the DA's office would drop the charges however they wrote it up like I was the bad guy seems George soros is funding the local police also... Freedom of speech is under attack in America and don't put it past them to arrest you for not agreeing with there official stories even when they are fake, please tell me what you think honestly was I out of line defending myself, I was truly afraid for my life, and I was afraid he would kill my beautiful babies, I find out this Kid Delivers for the New Orleans Advocate 4 months after the arrest and the owner is a democratic politician John Georges. I live outside the city limits and people shoot guns here all the time there are deer stands in the woods the police my neighbor who shot my sisters dog a year ago with a high powered riffle or so joined in the extremely one sided report and nothing in the report mentions my statement so I looked up this law https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/241... I am being targeted by hired people on my property for my conservative YouTube Channel, even now constantly please offer your comments...when you call the police and they do nothing what do we do? please comment!

The Advocate refunded the charges however they continue to bill me for the newspaper they continue to throw in my driveway after I clearly said I do not want this newspaper. Also, the phone number on the bill and on line is never answered. No one ever calls me back. I consider the newspaper in my driveway littering. If the Advocate doesnt stop throwing the paper I dont want and billing me for the paper I didnt order, I will report it to the Slidell Police Dept as littering. I dont know what else to do to STOP THROWING THE NEWSPAPERS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND STOP BILLING ME FOR PAPERS I DIDNT ORDER.

[redacted], Our customer service manager talked to Mr. [redacted] on Friday, 3/18, and offered him 2 months of delivery free. She told him in the future to contact her directly before going on vacation and she would handle crediting their account. He said that was a very good deal to him, but he would talk...

to Mrs. [redacted] to see if she wanted to continue the subscription, and that he would call back sometime that afternoon when his wife returned home. We did not hear back from Mr. [redacted], so called again and left him a message on Wednesday, 3/23.We hope to hear back from Mr. [redacted] soon.[redacted]

I ordered this paper online on February 28th for which $22.68 was automatically taken from my checking account. I have never received this paper and reported this daily. At first, I was told it was being referred to Delivery Manager. Lately, I do not receive any response. I have never heard back from a Manager. At this point, I just want to get my $22.68 credited back to my account. I give up trying to get this newspaper. Very poor customer service.

Review: on 8/25/14 I was approached in Walmart by [redacted] to purchase a subscription. to the advocate. and I was given a 5.00 gift card so I wrote a check for $18.95for the subscription. I asked Mr. [redacted] not to deposit the check before the 3rd of September and he agreed. however I had to call the advocate on 8/29/14 at 8;24 am I spoke to [redacted] A. told her that my father had passed that I was getting the papers for him so I needed to cancel the subscription. she said she would cancel the subscription that day ,however I received a overdraft fee or $35.00 from my bank because the advocate had deposit the check on or during the 3rd of Sept. I called the advocate spoke to the supervisor [redacted] I told her what happen, she stated that the check was deposit on the 8/25/14 and that she saw the cancelation on 8/29/14. She ignored that the deposit showed up on my account 8/03/14 which was after the cancelation. I had capital one bank to fax the advocate a copy of that transaction to this Supervisor because the supervisor gave me the fax #but the supervisor refuse to refund me the 35.00 overdraft fee because they deposit the check of $18.95 for the subscription after the subscription was cancelled 8/29/2014 1.I have the receipt for the subscription and the 2.transaction from the bank with the overdraft fee. and date or listed.Desired Settlement: 35.00 over draft without deducting the perimum

The said checked dated for 8/25/2014 was the date that the transaction was done for the subscription ,with Mr. [redacted] . I called and cancelled my subscription on the 8/29/2014 with [redacted] A. due to death, the gift card was for $5.00

the said check was deposit in my account after the cancellation date. on 9/3/2014 is when this check was deposited in my account by the advocate and cause the over draft fee. I have the date and amount on my bank statement. from capital one. [redacted] the supervisor is a lie about the date the check was deposit. I also spoke to [redacted]. who confirmed that the cancellation date was on 8/29/2014. the check was deposited in my account on 9/3/2014 after the cancellation date. I don't know anything about any other fee. the advocate say I owe. they owe me because even after I canceled my subscription they deposited the check anyway the advocate workers kept giving me the run around this is why I had to file this complaint

Review: We subscribe the New Orleans Advocate newspaper and are satisfied with the product. However, their delivery service is unreliable.Several months ago our paper was not delivered. We called ###-###-#### twice during the day and were assured that a paper would be redelivered the same day and that we would get a credit on the bill for the missing paper. No paper was delivered and no credit was given on the bill. We did not record the date for our files because the paper delivery began again the next day and has been relatively reliable until recently. On the same day we called the local person who delivered our paper and she advised that she no longer delivered to our area and that there was a new person assigned.We were out of town during the week of July 20th and a neighbor collected the paper for us while we were away. When we returned she advised that no paper was delivered on Friday July 24th. Because we were busy after the trip we did not call to complain.Today August 3, 2015 the paper was not delivered. We called twice to ###-###-####. The second person we reached was named Annie. She seemed concerned and told us that she would contact the person responsible for the area. His name is [redacted] She called him and he did not answer so she sent him an email. She also told us that she would give us a credit. It is 4:00 pm and the paper is still not delivered.This is lousy service.Please investigate this for us.Desired Settlement: We need reliable delivery of the newspaper and someone to contact if delivery problems recur. Calling ###-###-#### does not get results. A credit on the bill would be nice.

Review: Paid $17.00 for news paper delivery in 0/8- 2015 never received when they said I would. After one week more called office complained they promised one on way as we speak never showed up. Called next day requested refund person on phone said no problem check should be there 3- 5 days. After 5 days no check in mail. I called was told being reprocessed for $12.00 dollars because I got 5 dollars off bill at rouses for signing up so they took it back. told the lady not my fault you could not keep contract I should not lose five bucks. She agreed and said she would send check 3-5 days. 6 days later call back get told check is in the mail. we repeated this three times and keep getting told check on its way. Still waiting for check today 11-19-2015.Desired Settlement: Refund all my money today not with a check in mail I never get.

informed us that the paper was not being delivered to his address and that he

wanted a refund. We then issued him a check in the amount of $12.30 on 9/25/15,

which represented the balance on his account. He then called again to complain

that he didn't receive his refund check and that the amount was incorrect. I

was informed that he was being extremely rude, insulting, and using profanity

towards our customer service reps. On hearing this, I personally called [redacted] to let him know that we were going to fix his situation by reissuing him

a check for the full amount of $17.30 on 11/11/15 and that we would be mailing

him a new check in the morning to his new address, which I verified. It was

during this call that [redacted] was again extremely rude and unprofessional. On November 19th, [redacted] called again using more profanity

and demanding to talk to anyone that would listen. At this point, we canceled

the second check and reissued him a new check, which we sent via FedEx to his

Covington address. I've attached all three checks that were issued to [redacted], which have a matching address to the one he provided in this complaint.

Review: Around Christmas, the Advocate had a sales woman inside the Slidell WalMart. She offered a two month trial subscription for a really good price. I filled out the form, making sure to check the box that said something like "do not auto-renew". I have a copy. I was billed $18.95 on Dec 21, 2015. She also gave me a $5 WalMart gift card which - by the way - I discovered had never been activated or it was fake. It was unusable. I received the paper as ordered and at the end of a month period, I no longer received it. This was good. I didnt want the paper anymore. However, I was billed on $18.95 Feb 23 for papers I never recieved. I called in Feb and someone said they'd correct it. They didnt. I was just billed $18.95 again in Mar 23. I sent an email to customer service. I received a call from ###-###-#### and was told to call ###-###-#### for help. That same number is on their website. The number is invalid. This is so time-consuming. I was patiently waiting for them to credit the Feb and Mar but now I'm done. I will contact my bank on Monday.Desired Settlement: Immediately refund the two charge errors of $18.95 each: Feb 23 and Mar 23, 2016

Review: The Advocate Paper took money out of my checking account for four months with out my permission for papers that I did not receive.I spoke to them eight times only to hear them say the person you need to speak to is on vacation, at lunch, left early, and so on.I was then insulted when they said I was getting the payer which I was not.Desired Settlement: I just want them to refund the money they took out of my checking account with out my permission.Thank You

Review: I signed up for the New Orleans Advocate for a 2 month trail period. I gave the representative a check for $18.95 for the 2 month delivery. On my reciept there is a block that the representative circled saying the payment type. There is also a box that contains payment Options such as AutoPay. None of which I was told about and nothing is checked off. I did not authorize AutoPay to be taken from my checking account. On September 8th I looked at my account and found that the New Orleans advocate took out another $18.95. I called customer service to cancel the subscription and asked why they automated took payment out for another month without my consent. They apoligized that the representative did not explain this would happen. I have several friends that this has happened to. My sister in law has been waiting for her refund for 2 months, although they told her 2 weeks is what the told me also. I just wonder how many other people they have taken advantaged of and haven't checked their checking account to see that this payment was taken without their consent!Desired Settlement: I want my refund in a timely manner. I want the New Orleans Advocate to notify their customers that autopayment will be activated after the 2 month period.

manager contacted Ms. [redacted] on September 9 and apologized for the automated

payment of $18.95 from her checking account. He answered her questions

and assured her The New Orleans Advicate is in no way purposely deceiving

people with their subscription offer. The contractor we use to sell these

subscription offers has also been notified of the issue. A refund of

$18.95 was mailed to her today (see attached copy).

resolves the complaint.

Review: Toward the end of May, 2014, I was approached by a person who was set up outside of a business in Covington, LA offering me a 2 month trial of the New Orleans Advocate at a reduced rate. I had been considering trying the Advocate and this was the opportunity to let me try it for a limited time. I specifically told the person that I ONLY wanted the 2 month trial and under no circumstances did I want any money automatically withdrawn from my checking account. I told him I would make my decision after the 2 month trial period. I wrote a check to cover the cost of my 2 month trial.On August 5th, while checking my online bank statement, I discovered that $18.95 had been automatically withdrawn from my account. I DID NOT GIVE PERMISSION FOR THIS TO BE DONE. I called the New Orleans Advocate on August 6th and was assured that the money would be put back into my account. On September 10th, I again called the Advocate and informed them that the money had not yet been put back into my account. Again, I was told that it would be turned over to a district manager and would be taken care of. As of today, 9/16/14, nothing has changed. The paper has been stopped, but my money has not been returned.Desired Settlement: I would like the unauthorized withdrawal returned to my checking account.

Review: I signed up for the newspaper inside of a grocery store. I was reluctant to do it because I wasn't really comfortable with giving my debit card info. I did receive a $20 gift card for signing up & I paid the 1st month & the 2nd month would be free. I'm currently at the end of the free 2nd month but I decided to call and cancel. The advocate gives much less paper than the Times Picayune so I found myself still purchasing a $2.00 times picayune paper every Sunday. So I cancelled the subscription one day & the next day they took the fee of $18.95. I called to inquire about it & I was told I would receive a refund for the $18.95 just give it a few days. Not only did I not receive a refund a few days later they took another $5.09. When I called again to inquire about the charges I was told I will not be getting a refund because I cancelled inside a 90 day promotion period and I had to pay for that 3rd month regardless. I still have no idea why they took another $5.09. First of all I had no idea about the promotion period but of course she says it was n the fine print on the paper when I signed up. So I asked could I still receive the paper for the month that they made me pay for. I was told that I could not because I cancelled. So I don't understand that logic. I am paying for a paper I can not receive and then u charge me an additional $5.09 for what I don't know. I feel like they took advantage and they are ripping me off. U took my money & u won't allow me to receive the paper that I paid for. Yes I did cancel but since my money was taken anyway I would like something for my money. So now I am out of my money and I'm out of the paper. A total ripoff and that is not fairDesired Settlement: I want my $18.95 plus this mysterious charge of $5.09 refunded back to my account and they need to delete all info they have for me
