Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:1) TNTP's claim that I am not an effective teacher or am unable to rise to the high standards set by the organization are unfounded My efficacy as teacher was demonstrably measured through NWEA Measures of Academic Progress Benchmark Exams, and STEP Testing, which demonstrated my students were on track for - years of academic growth during the 2014-academic school year This data should also be considered in light of the fact this was a stacharter school in a high needs area I was asked to join another Metro Nashville Public School (MNPS) within two business days of resigning my position and have been asked to stay on as a permanent teacher Removing a teacher from the program simply because the school was a poor fit, goes against TNTP's stated mission to provide excellent teachers in high-needs schools Based on the qualitative data demonstrating my student's growth during my tenure, combined with the qualitative data from my current administration, TNTP should re-instate me into the program
2) As I stated in my original complaint, if I am required to pay for the entire $5,in tuition I should be allowed to access, and retain, the entirety of the coursework provisioned by TNTP I am not requesting to receive continued coaching, only that I be allowed to retain copies of the online coursework, resources, and materials that I paid for, and accessed, via Blackboard (i.ethe entirety of the Literacy and Mathematics Online Modules) Once I was removed from the program I was denied access to resources I had paid for through my tuition Considering that I am still a successful teacher, working with high needs students, I am eager to access all teaching materials to which I am entitled It is surprising that TNTP is denying me the tools, which I paid for, to continue serve the MNPS system to the best of my abilities
I reiterate my request that TNTP either:
1) Reinstate me into the program;
2) Grant access to the teaching materials I paid for; or
3) Refund the portion of the tuition for the resources and materials to which I am being denied
Regards,

To Whom It May Concern,
TNTP is a national nonprofit working to end educational inequality by ensuring that all students get excellent teachers, Our Teaching Fellows program is a selective alternate route to the classroom, with a 15-year track record of training...

more than 30,000 new teachers for high-need schools and subjects.TNTP's rigorous teacher training happens in three phases: an intensive, summer pre-service training period, a screen to ensure that program participants (in this case, Nashville Teaching Fellows) meet a high standard of effectiveness, and coursework leading to certification through TNTP Academy. At each stage, TNTP carefully monitors progress and provides personal support to ensure that participants are on track to meet program expectations and lead successful classrooms.
TNTP and Metro Nashville Public Schools believe that Nashville students deserve effective teachers, and we recommend certification only to participants who meet program expectations and demonstrate their ability to help students learn. We hold a high bar to enter the classroom—and not everyone meets it.
Unfortunately, [redacted] was terminated from her teaching position this year, and subsequently removed from TNTP Academy–Nashville without earning licensure. This scenario is specifically addressed in the TNTP Academy handbook that all participants must read and sign. To further address some inaccuracies and specific complaints stated in [redacted]'s letter:
• Metro Nashville Public Schools does not pay TNTP to offer summer pre-service training to Fellows, TNTP provides this service at no cost to the district, -
• At the end of TNTP's 2014-15 summer training period, only 15 percent of program participants were removéd. These removals were due to poor performance, not the result of forced attrition.
• All TNTP Academy–Nashville participants are required to pay a $5,500 tuition fee to cover all expenses related to training and professional development throughout the program. If Fellows leave or are removed from the program after a specified date, they are still responsible for paying the full amount of the tuition to ????.
All of these expectations and details were outlined in a presentation given to Nashville Teaching Fellows at the beginning of pre-service training, and in a TNTP Academy handbook distributed to participants this summer. We understand that [redacted] is disappointed in the outcome of her training experience and regret any confusion she experienced. Unfortunately, she did not meet the high performance standards we set for our teachers.
Sincerely,
Ariela R
Chief Executive Officer

Review: DC Fellows/TNTP is a private organization. They help to recruit and train teachers to work in [redacted]. DC Fellows aka TNTP (The New Teacher Project), provided an incentive for people to participate in their alternative teacher certification program in the summer of 2012. The pre-service training spanned over approximately 6 weeks. Since participants were not able to work another job during this time, TNTP promised that each participant who successfully completed the summer pre-service training program would receive a $2000 stipend at the end of the summer. The stipend would also help to subsidize the tuition payment which eventually they said we could delay until we received the stipend. I successfully completed the program. TNTP kept delaying the payment of the funds (I have supporting documentation). In February, some of the participants received the funds. I did not receive my funds. It seems as though they only paid people who are still currently teaching in [redacted] however, the stipend was only contingent upon completing the pre-service training program (no one in this pre-service training program was teaching with [redacted] at that time or guaranteed a job with [redacted]). We all secured teaching jobs in August 2012). I resigned from [redacted] in December of 2012. Had we been paid when originally promised, I would have received the funds in the summer of 2012.Desired Settlement: Pay me the $2000 stipend that is due. I have supporting documentation from tntp which provides the contractual promise to pay the $2000 upon the completion of the summer pre-service program and also an agreement to postpone my payment of tuition until I receive the stipend.
