I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does satisfy my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint #***I understand that by choosing to accept the business response that my complaint will be closed as resolved. From the first point of a received letter I can conclude that the school is not count as a high level international prestige academic institution otherwise the pries of $for the whole academic year and $for the months of a host is the big amount and not to take records of the payment is more than unacceptableAlso if there was no installment how did the school interview me and send the application form with no installment again? About the third point of a letter: From the first time when the school allowed to choose the hostfamily by my own the request was the cellular numberAccording to the letter from the school about it there was no other criteriaFurther they refused the meeting every time and I have the proof of that How the school could withhold the suitable hostfamily for me if by that letter they have never seen herOne more time, I ask the to check the payment carefully because that is such a joke not to notice that amount of money of $Or to check your agency for the receipt

The Newman School responds to Ms ***’s complaint as follows: The Newman School has no record of every receiving funds from the complainant or on behalf of the complainantWe therefore cannot refund any monies received on her behalfWe are enclosing a copy of our statement of her account
dating from July 1, to the present showing a “0” balance and no activity whatsoeverMs *** may have advanced funds to a third party educational agency and if so she should pursue relief from such partiesNewman is not privy to the terms of any contract she may have signed with such agencies, and we have no opinion on whether she may be due a refund under the terms of any such agreements, if those agreements existNewman School personnel worked diligently on Ms ***’s behalf to assist with the arrangement of a suitable homestayThe person she designated failed to appear at our school for an interview on several occasionsAt that point we determined that the student should attend another school as it was obvious to us that a homestay acceptable under our school policy could not be arrangedMost importantly, we reiterate: while we have expended time and energy on Ms ***’s behalfThe Newman School does not have any of her money

Thank you for your notice that the above matter is closed as “resolved”I write only for the record, as it appears evident to me that to me that while Ms *** has indicated acceptance of the resolution of the matter, she continues on by complaining about Newman by stateng: 1-she states her belief that we have in fact received funds on her behalf and implies that we have not kept accurate recordsTo which we reply; this is not at all accurate, we have received no funds from her or from any party or her behalfOur records are accurate, our financial statement is audited annually by a qualified Certified Public AccountantWe have carefully reviewed our records and reiterate that we have received no money on her accountshe implies that the fact that we spent time with her, interviewing her and sending her an application, constitutes evidence that we must have received funds on her behalfAgain, this is not trueAs an independent non-profit school accredited by New England Association of Schools and Colleges it is our professional responsibility to assist applicantsWe are paid when the student applies ($300) and again full tuition when the student registersMs ***’s agency never provided an application fee, however we endeavored to help her a professional courtesyMs *** finally states that we casually and carelessly refused to meet with her proposed homestay familyThis is not accurateOn one occasion the host parent was unable to find our school, even though when the person called us, she reported that she was within four blocks of our locationOn another occasion the person was at an address within reasonable proximity of our school but reported that they did not have time to find usOur international student representative was unable to arrange a meeting at the home addressWe finally concluded that we could not have a constructive relationship under these circumstances and advisedMs ***’s representative that we could not accept her into Newman, because we were spending time on her behalf but in our judgement the student’s plans were not realisticNewman has been accepting international students since Our very first international student lived in a homestaySince that time we have had thousands of international students attend Newman, the great majority of them living in homestaysWe know what is good for our students and what is going to work for us as a schoolWe are quite confident that we have treated this applicant fairly, giving the matter careful consideration without expecting or receiving compensation
