The  client provided  their 2015 tax return with the [redacted] [redacted] business in the Rankin Inlet Northern store on April 27th 2016.  She did not return to complete the return and the file remained in the stores action list as a non-completed return....

  On March 15th 2017, the client returned and provided the slips again for a 2015 tax return.  The file was processed at the Northern store as a 2016 return with 2015 slips.  This material included the signed 2016 authorization to represent the client with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for the 2016 tax return. The signature of the client was compared to the 2015 authorization and they are the same.  The tax preparer identified that the slips were for the wrong year and did an “autofill’ process with CRA to obtain the 2016 slips, populated the 2016 return and completed the 2016  return and sent it  to the store.  This process was authorized by the client due to the signed 2016 forms.  The client then paid for the 2016 return and signed the necessary forms for NWC to file her 2016 return on her behalf.     [redacted] Efiled the 2016 return based on the payment of the 2016 fee and the store completing the 2016 file from their tax action list.   The client subsequently called [redacted] to complain that the 2016 return was filed when she only wanted to file the 2015 return.   In conversation with the Northern store manager, he advised that he was meeting with the client to explain what had happened and resolve the issues.  there was no other communication from the store manager or the client in regards to this issue and Tax services considered the matter closed. I would like to discuss any issues the client  may feel have not been addressed.    Dan B[redacted]Director, Financial ServicesThe North West Company204-[redacted]
