The Oaks Apartments

Left apartment in better condition than when moved in was still charged for cleaning and carpet cleaning.The apartment was cleaner when I moved out than it was when I moved in. I cleaned carpets myself. The management took $150 out of deposit for carpet cleaning and to clean baseboards and fans (which were already clean). Management is very unorganized and does not look out for the renters interest only for subcontractors who make money from your deposit. Tried to get $150 back was told from management that was not happening. This was all after it took me calling for two months to even get a deposit back. No one even contacted me to let me know anything was going to be deducted.Desired SettlementWould like the $150 that was deducted from security deposit back. Business Response The apartment was taken by the couple "AS IS". They were aware of this prior to moving in. They needed the apartment sooner than when we could have it ready. The deposit was released 12 days later once the couple left. Whether it was lost in the mail, etc.... We reissued the check and they did receive it. Charges are taken out if the apartment is not able to re-rented immediately when a tenant moves out. We had to have the carpets professionally cleaned and the cleaning done to meet our expectations for new tenants. Our policy does not state that we will contact tenants to make them aware of the deductions but we are more than happy to explain the deductions once the refund has been issued.
