The Original Grasso Construction, Inc. Reviews (3)

Review: I contacted Grasso Companies to have my driveway replaced in April 2014 and at that time paid a deposit of $11,237.50 for services to be rendered in the near future. Because I travel a great deal for work and I wanted to be home when the driveway work is to be done, I asked for a specific date when the work was to be performed. However, whenever I asked for specific dates I was given ones that did not work for me, or when I asked for dates Grasso's employees simply didn't respond on a timely basis. After almost 18 months, I have decided to not proceed with the driveway replacement and simply asked that Grasso refund my deposit. They have refused to send my back my deposit. To my knowledge, they have incurred no expense specifically related to my project. Can you help me simply get a refund for services that were never performed?Desired Settlement: I would like my deposit of $11,237.50 to be refunded.

Response:

To Whom It May Concern: Please be advise that this complaint is not correct. We have in the past been trying to schedule with Mrs. [redacted] to set a date for her project. We finally settled on 11/9/15 and her work has since been completed. Sincerely, Teresa

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted].

Wants to bill 3 times more than anyone else. I wonder how much the city of [redacted] pays this guy...

Review: The following letter, sent certified, was returned as refused acceptance. It is self explanatory.August 7, 2013[redacted]Grasso Construction Inc[redacted]Dear [redacted],Approximately one year ago your company replaced my driveway at [redacted] in [redacted]. The quality of the work was excellent; however the area where the driveway meets the road was too high. This resulted in scraping of the undercarriage of cars when they entered the property. Your company corrected this within a short time by having a crew redo this section.Unfortunately the problem continues. I did not call your company this past winter, hoping that curing or contraction of the material would solve the problem. This did not occur. I have been in touch with [redacted] several times and he has been out twice to evaluate the problem. I was present on the second visit and we identified the areas of elevation together. He agreed the lip had to be lowered and told me the timing of the repair would be squeezed in between big jobs. Well, its been more than four months and several phone calls since then and nothing has been done. During my last conversation with [redacted] over a month ago I was told the company was very busy and I would be put on a wait list for the repair. No time frame was given. In the meantime I have incurred charges for visitor muffler repairs who damaged their cars on my driveway and have had to deal with the anger of family and friends who experience the scraping on their undercarriages. This is not a tolerable situation and is a poor reflection on your company. A repair cannot take more than an hour or two. I am bringing this to your attention since you may have no knowledge of the ongoing problem and in the hope you will address it immediately.I look forward to hearing from you soon. Please call or leave a message on my cell phone.Sincerely[redacted]Desired Settlement: Finish the job.

Response:

Good Morning [redacted],

We had returned to [redacted] driveway for an grade elevation change after the initial paving job. We had cut the grade down as much as we could in order help low stance cars avoid bottoming out. Unfortunately because of the slope of his driveway at the entrance there is no other possible way to avoid this unless excavation and grade elevation work be performed. The slope is greater than 45 degrees and a landing area would have to be installed or the driveway would have to be rerouted in order to avoid low stance cars from bottoming out. We explained this to [redacted] and he was not understanding of our recommendation. We had no knowledge of cars bottom out going into the contract and the driveway was built to its existing grade. Had we known these issues prior to completion of exaction there may have been a chance to try and correct them. Based on what I’ve seen it would be virtually impossible to avoid this “bottoming out” problem unless major excavation work is performed.

I hope my response is of help. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Regards,

[redacted].
