(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am not even going to address the first two paragraphs of your reponse as they are basically a personal attack rather than a response to the actual issue which is the lingering odour and damage to my home caused by the "over zealous" use of ozoneThe term "over zealous" was used by you and I still have it on my answering machine from late DecemberAs far as knowing how much ozone was used you e-mailed this amount to my neighbour in order for her to order the air quality testThis is the information you sent: It was a *** *** ** ozone machine ( there were three machines) used @ mg/hr on timer hrs onhrs offThe one spray was *** *** *** solution sprayed carpet edges and fogged carpeted areas using a *** ***You were initially unsure of the deodorant that you utilized to fog my home which was supposed to neutralize the odour but unfortunately added to the odour and made the situation even more intolerableYou had to contact your colleague to find out what the substance wasAs far as accessing the air quality test results they were sent to the Revdex.com for review as well as the company contact informationI am not sharing the information with you as you had no interest in paying for the test in the first placeI will, however, share the information that was given to me by the company I hired
I recently had my home shocked with ozone to get rid of the second hand cigarette odorThe person who did the service was "over zealous" in his treatment and "over saturated " the house(Those are his terms left on a telephone message to me) I have been left with a home where the air is almost intolerable to breath and he assures me it isn't hazardous to my houseThe treatment was done on December 19th and the smell still remainsThe company replies:(The half life of ozone is minutes; reach indicates that ventilating the space for minutes will rid of the ozoneHowever with the being said during the ozone process the oxidization of rubber and soft plastics can occur which can lead to a toxic environment)I said: I was hoping to get an opinion as to what the smell is that is currently in my house as the service provider says he has no ideaAt first he said it was antimicrobial spray, then he said it was too much ozone, and that the ozone was captured by the fabricsThe company replied:(The odour could be coming from the oxidation of the rubbers and plastics in your home, or cleaning materials usedThere was no need to use an antimicrobial in the home for cigarette smoke)I replied: I just purchased a new bed and had it delivered the day before and my bedroom smells the worstThe company replied (I received a phone call from your neighbour, she indicated that the service provider recommended purchasing a new bed prior to the ozone treatment as it will help the off gassing processThis is true that it would help off gassing of the VOC's however, it is a bad idea as the Ozone can break down the materials in the mattressShe mentioned that the mattress smells horrible and there is visible damageI said: .Are you able to test the air to see what the smell is and maybe where it is coming from......with an idea as to how to get rid of it? The company replied:(I have requested prices from the lab for common chemicals in breakdowns of plastics and rubbersI am hoping to have a price before the end of the day Monday.) I said: I currently have carbon air scrubbers in my home, but they don't seem to be doing anything as I feel like the source is still there. The company replied( ***, if there are chemicals in the air the carbon air scrubbers may remove some of these, it really depends on which chemicals are presentI would continue to leave it running as it may be slowing helping.)
I asked *** to provide me with the name of the anti microbial cleaner and the type of ozone machine usedShe indicated that she would email the service provider tonight for this informationI require the information prior to generating a quoteIn the mean time I recommend not residing in your home as we are unsure of the air qualityIt would also be a good idea to wash the clothing you remove from your home prior to wearing it
After the Air Quality testing was complete the service provider I hired suggested doing all of the things to my home that I have done, and that I am still doingI still have a carbon air scrubber, and I am still throwing out items that the elastic or rubber has visibly broken down in, and that are emitting a very strong odourI don't expect another response from you as you obviously have nothing more to add which is what you said in the first place when you said you had exhausted your resourcesI am not, however, a satisfied customer and I still believe I should at least get a refund, but I suspect that won't happen either
*** mentioned that you leave your windows open to ventilate the home, please be careful with the duration they are left open in the winterIf the outdoor temperature is cold and windows are open too long the pipes can freezeA situation like this likely wouldn't be covered by your insurance company
*** mentioned that the rubber in your clothing and mattress have broken downI recommend that you document this through photographsIf you can't visibly see the change in material on a photo you can make a video on your cell phone or save the clothing for reference
If you would like to discuss this further please contact me on my cell at

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/01/27) */
Response from The Ozone-Pros:
*** ***
*** *** *** *** ***
(D)My home was treated with ozone by this company and left a toxic odorIt was agreed that the air be tested and a solution foundThis hasn't happened
(O-PROS)***'s home was Ozone Shock Treated for cigarette smoke odorResidual ozone smell (fresh laundry smell) clinging to fabrics, furnishings and clothing can linger for 5-days
The unknown odor that is the subject of this complaint is not OzoneOzone in NON TOXIC when not being actively generated, it is generated from oxygen in air and reverts back to same
You, *** insisted on an Indoor Air Quality testI indicated I could test but expressly indicated that this test technique would only test the air quality for mould, organic compounds etcNOT for odorsAfter I obtained the on-site samples and confirmed with the Lab that these samples could in "no way" indicate the presence of chemicals or odors, I did not proceed with Lab processing and costs that would produce no results pertinent to this odor situation
When you ***, indicated you wanted an IAQ test that would test for odors and (in your opinion) toxic chemicals you said you would get a company to procure that service
(D) I had my home ozone shocked by Ozone Pros On December 20, which left a terrible and toxic odor in my homeThe owner, Glenn D*** agreed to test the air quality which he didn't do as he said the lab was unable to test for these chemicals
(O-PROS)There is NO toxic residual odor from OzoneI obtained IAQ samples expressly indicating that this particular IAQ test technique would only test the air quality for mould and organic compounds etcNOT for odors such that you felt were present*** *** ***
(D)Then he agreed to pay for an air quality test if I found a company that could test for the chemical which I thought were presentwhich he didn't do
(O-PROS)***, AT NO TIME did I agree to pay for any testing from another company based on your opinion of alleged chemical present
(D)I have had to hire another company to test the air and pay for the testHe came a sprayed a compound in my home that was supposed to rid the house of the odor, but it did not, and he couldn't even tell me the name of the substance until he talked to another Ozone company
(O-PROS) You didn't hire me nor pay me to do any Air Quality Testing, so how is it you having to hire "another company" is anything to do with me? The natural odor counteractant fogged within the main floor of the home was potentially to counteract the unknown odorYour request for the name of the solution was late Friday evening and I provided the information Monday during working hours
(D)Glenn brought particulate scrubbers into my home, but they did not remove the odorI asked whether the carbon filters were new or renewed and he took offense to this and accuses me of implying he was lying by stating "In our recent phone conversation you relayed the carbon filter question to me quite tactfullyalthough I understood you were questioning whether I even knew there was carbon filter in the units "
(O-PROS)The Carbon filter Air scrubbers (2) that were placed in ***'s Home are designed to filter odors from ambient airI never accused you of any such thingYou called me and said that your new service provider had indicated (based on the pictures??) that these air scrubbers present in ***'s home did not contain carbon filters and that as only a particulate filter they were not at all effective for odorI have no idea what pictures you were referring to?Questioning the presence of the carbon filters after I physically opened up the unit's filter canister and showed (***) the stages of filtration, specifically the Carbon filter while offering instructions on adjusting air flow, and strategic movement of the units within the home while they were operating
* Additionally, you failed to mention that you/*** chose to keep (without permission)the rented air scrubber units days past the agreed rental period,(incurring additional rental costs to me) holding them hostage in an attempt to leverage me to resolve the unknown odor situation
*This action was unacceptable and in this situation contributed to my ultimate decision to discontinue my services
(D) Glenn from Ozone Pros claims that he has done all that he set out to do as there is no more cigarette odor in my home, but unfortunately it is uninhabitable
(O-PROS) Correct, no more smoke odorHow is it you deem the home uninhabitable when *** has been living there the entire time and no IAQ test results
(D) He sent me an e-mail today stating that he "elect(s) to discontinue (his) services and that (he has) exhausted all of (his) resources in attempts to address the situation and have no more availableHe states that he is "sincerely disappointed that a solution could not be achieved through my efforts and I do hope a new service provider is successful in theirs."
(O-PROS) ***, this is correct and confirmed in my email to you as per your cut & pasted information from my e-mailI may add that all the time, resources & equipment I provided were all at NO COST TO YOU in my efforts to contribute to a solutionBut since you are misrepresenting yourself as *** in this complaintit is prudent to note I have never communicated with *** (the home owner) via email as you indicated
(D)even though I have been left to hire a company to fix his errors at great expenseI paid cash and didn't have to pay GSTThe amount was $I had to pay $plus GST to have my air quality tested, and I am now having to pay $925.00/month for a negative air machine to remove the toxinsI have also had to purchase a new bed from *** for $and rent a truck for $to transport as I am unable to sleep on my bed due to the oxidation
(O-PROS) I made no errorYou hired an Air quality testing companyThese decisions were made by you and numbers provided in your opinionYour allegations could not have been caused by ozoneFurthermore no actual test results have been received to back up your claim at the time of this complaint? *** *** *** *** *** ***
(D)The company I hired actually suggested I put poly on my bed to try to make the air more habitableI would like my current expenses repaid, and any future expenses reimbursed to me and I would like my money refunded
(O-PROS) Poly makes air more habitable? Your decision to incur such expenses is not my responsibility, in my opinion, you writing this complaint as if you are *** is a misrepresentation and unacceptableI offered *** a full refund of his money days after the treatment, he declined stating, "I just want the odor gone"
I DO NOT agree to pay past, current or future expenses, reimburse or refund any money for the services I provided of services of other providers not approved by me subject to the circumstances as they took place and when I offered a refund it was refused
(D) Glenn states in his last message that "In NO way was (he) implying levels of ozone ever reached the point of damaging contents at any level within the treatment area" yet the company I have hired states that there is definitely damage to rubbers, plastics, etcin my house that are oxidizing and creating a toxic environmentI will have the air quality test results in approximately one week to find out what chemicals are in the air
(O-PROS)I maintain there were no damaging levels of ozone during the treatmentI find it challenging to accept your claim that the new company you hired would actually state that there is definitely damage and oxidizing creating a toxic environment prior to and without the actual test results, as stated take a week to process and provide
(D)Glenn has blocked my e-mail address and won't accept or return any of my phone calls
(O-PROS) INCORRECT
(O-PROS)I would like to further note that if required, I may provide all communications (text & email) for further verification of details of the commitment I offered in my attempt to address this odor situation and satisfy this customerI committed many hours, expense and equipment in my attempts to address the unknown odor situation(including Christmas Eve day and Boxing day)Along with my commitment to professional due diligence and exhausting my resources the decision was made to discontinue pro

(O-Pros) I had limited conversations with ***The messages on his answering machine were me trying to contact him in order to facilitate the retrieval of the rented Air Scrubbers he/they refused to return, holding them hostage as leverage against me to provide additional information
When you were initially approached regarding the toxic odour you agreed to the recording of the conversation and on that recording you offered and agreed to test the air quality of the home because you weren't sure where the odour was coming from, after you sniffed the carpet, walls, bed, etc, and took air samplesEven though you didn't submit these samples as you weren't aware of which lab to send them to in order to test for the proper chemicals caused by oxidation of plastics and rubbers you did agree to the tests
(O-Pros) AT NO TIME did I agree to a recorded conversation, taking my picture or testing for chemicals*** I indicated I could perform "an" air quality test and made it clear on occasions that the IAQ test that I could offer would not test for odors or any alleged chemicals she thought to be presentIncluding a call directly to your girlfriend at the time I was onsite to obtain the IAQ samplesTo correct you, it was not about which lab to send the samples, it was about the type of air quality test sample obtainedthe ones I obtained being for mould/organic contaminants which would provide no pertinent results addressing an odor regardless of which Lab they were processed at
Ozone is a toxic gas but it leaves the home within an hour after the treatment, however, as the results of the tests from the other company show, the break down of the synthetic fibers in the home off gas and oxidize into formadehyde which showed in the Air Quality tests that were taken due to high levels of ozone levels that my home was exposed to for an extended period of timeThe company I hired did state that levels of ozone, that are necessary to remove cigarette odour, is damaging to soft plastics and rubber
(O-Pros) If you would like to provide a copy of the other company's IAQ test results along with a contact name and number to the "other" company, I may contact them and review the resultsIn addition I would like to discuss their opinions on alleged damaging ozone levels utilized to eliminate smoke odors, since I am the only one that actually knows the levels of ozone produced during this odor treatmentThe same consistent ozone treatment I have provided to successfully eliminate smoke odors in homes for the last 6+ years with no complaints or call backs
I have the email from the reputable company I hired stating thisAs far as the bed goes I purchased a queen size bed from ***, rented a *** and brought it home to sleep on in the spare room and had to remove the other mattress from my homeThe consulting company I hired suggested, based on the findings that I remove my carpet, bed, and any other synthetic fibers as well as make sure to keep an eye on my plastic pipes as ozone dries them out and they can eventually break
(O-Pros) These recommendations appear questionable in my 6+ years' experience and knowledge of utilizing ozone to remove smoke odors, proof of these findings and allegations would be a startOzone smoke odor treatment affecting plastic ABS plumbing pipes?...NO
I also have to wash all of my walls and surfaces with baking soda and vinegar and wash and air out all of my clothes after soaking them in baking soda and any clothes with elastic in them have to be disposed ofI obviously can expect no monetary compensation from you, but I am at least hoping that others will read this complaint and will think twice before using ozone as a method of removing any odours from their home*** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***
(O-Pros) Having to wash surfaces and soak clothing with baking soda and vinegar appears questionable (don't mix the two)Disposal of clothes with elastic in them? NO

(O-Pros) I have responded to all of the complaint allegations point by point as instructed by the Revdex.com, but it appears that this forum is without an end as the complaint information keeps changing content, focus and you choose not to accept the Business ResponseI would suggest that if the Revdex.com chooses to post this publically that I have nothing more to add apart from possibly reviewing the IAQ results if provided with this information to confirm these allegations from this other company

I did have a number of conversations with you and I also have messages from you on my answering machine. In any case I don't appreciate you insinuating that someone else is speaking for me. Any conversations you did have with my neighbour were discussed with me before a reply was given.
