The Palms Day Spa & Salon Reviews (1)

The customer's husband ([redacted]) called on 6/19/15 and wanted to get his wife our Express pedicure and half of an hour massage. He gave us a credit card over the phone (at our salon you can not run the credit card while...

on the phone). After we hung up and tried to run it, the credit card was declined. We called back several times and left messages letting him know that the credit card did not go thru. We got no return phone call. The customer ([redacted]) then came in for her appointment 6/20/15, we told her right up front that the credit card that her husband gave us did not go thru. We then asked her if she still wanted to get the services done. She seemed to be very upset from the get go.She then got her credit card out but said she wasn't tipping anyone until she felt necessary to do so (she never tipped). She was not happy that we had a pedicure before the massage (which was the only way we could get both of those appointments in on that day, they gave us one day notice). We let her toes dry for 15-20 mins, and manicurist checked them. She seemed pleased when she left. She even got an eyebrow wax after appointments and talked about getting extensions. My staff (of 10+ years of experience) that evening called me and told me everything that happened with her. They said she acted as if she was too good for this place, and that she was a know it all, and treated them like trash. They kept trying to be nice and make her happy, and they felt that she was nicer towards the end. They said she was trashing Bedford and hated this town. Her husband called back 6/23/15 and said that she had a couple of toes had got smudged. We made her an appointment for 6/24/15 to get the toes touched up, the impression over the phone from the husband was that he wanted her to have a full pedicure again. We told him that we would be happy to fix the couple of toes that were smudged, but not redo a full pedicure again. The customer on 6/23/15 evening posted a harsh facebook review on our page.   Customer posted       "Although the Palms Day Spa was great in regard to a woman's day of "gossip" and nonsense pop culture entertainment, the services received were performed in such a manor of a learning instituion or beauty college instead of that by professionals. It is my strongest recommendation that anyone wanting greater services than that of introductory persons should not attend or be serviced from The Palms Day Spa and Salon."   I was not going to let them trash us, when I have built a very successful salon, and this is my hometown of 38 years. And she received the quickest pedicure we have and quickest massage that we have. I responded:       "We are sorry that you feel that you had a bad experience. However, we feel that you are falsely accusing us. You were upset that your husband had this set up and gave us a declined credit card and he never called us back and you had to pay for it. We told you first thing when you came in that it was declined, so you didn't have to do the package in the first place. You chose to stay and even added on a eyebrow wax. And also inquired about extensions and that you were going to schedule an appointment and seemed that you were very happy when you left! We are sorry that you happened to also come on a day that we were short staffed by having no receptionist and stylist stepping in to help with that, We are not a "gossip" salon either and are very sad that you felt that you had to exploit us. Had is been paid for with an accepted credit card maybe you would have felt differently"        The customer did not show for her appointment. The customer and her husband then came in late that night and wanted to talk to management. The customer's husband said he wanted his money back. The way the customer asked for the money backed seemed as if they do this all the time to businesses. I told him no, and that we would be happy to fix her toes for her. She showed them too me and I saw one toe that was smudged and didn't see any chipping. But I told her twice that we would redo the smudged toes and then she refused.      He then asked who wrote that facebook post, cause I want it down. I said I wrote it, and I feel that you are falsely accusing us, and your wife seemed happy when she left and then you trash us on facebook. I told him to take down his review and it will come down. She said I was pretty happy, but the way the staff handled the credit card situation was terrible and we never got a call. I said my staff was never rude to you. Then the customer's husband started trashing the staff, and I told him I wasn't here, but I know my staff and they said that the customer was horrible from the start, and that you couldn't believe your husband brought you to this small town. She indicated that she wanted to be back in Chicago and hated it here.   The husband then starts to yell and say "this is because were black isn't it?" I said "It has nothing to do with that, but you can leave now" He then preceeded to call me a "white [redacted]" I told them that they were now banned from the salon. He then starts to scream and use the "F word" and then tells me that I'm racist and screams throughout my entire salon. Thank goodnes I only had one client there and her kids where outside. They decide to leave and sit in another parking lot beside ours. I then called the police.   When they did get home, they start posting more things. Harrassing me and my clients on facebook. Telling them that they get good service because they have the "same skin complexion" They also had some random friend of there's bash our salon. Then the husband writes on our page "praising us for kicking them out" as if it wasn't them. Quote from husband "...how she treated these [redacted] and they deserve everything they got. Thank you again to this owner for putting those [redacted] in their place. The Palms Day Spa and Salon is a "white's only" establishment. I am so grateful"   I had no idea that they were African American. My staff on Saturday 6/20/15 never told me that she was black, they only called her by "this lady". It's sad that some society has to feel that way.   I have saved screenshots of all this.     Trenadee R[redacted] The Palms Day Spa and Salon 1845 Steven Ave., Bedford IN 812-279-5122    www.thepalmsdayspa.net www.thepalmsspaandsalon.com
