To Revdex.com Staff,
We discussed this issue with *** *** on Wednesday, 10/29/14, regarding a inch German Chocolate cake that had been picked up on Saturday, 10/25. I was slightly surprised that she had waited until Wednesday since we are open 6am to 7pm Monday and
Tuesday, but she explained that she had worked those days. She then proceeded to explain the situation as she had described in her customer statement and told me she thought she was due at least half of the money back. I started by apologizing that she was not satisfied and asked her if she had any of the cake left, the hair from the cake, or even a picture of the cake with the hair. She said that she did not save the hair and that her guests had consumed all of the cake. I explained to her that our policy regarding a cake issue is that we ask our customers to bring the uneaten portions of the cake back or even a slice of the cake back to legitimize their claims and then we can proceed to give a store credit for part or all of cake priceSince she and her guests had consumed ALL of the cake and she had no proof of her claims, I told her there wasn't anything I could do for her. Because I didn't give *** *** the answer she wanted she ended the conversation by threatening that she would tell all her friends to no longer purchase anything from our bakery. We do strive to make sure that each of our customers are satisfied with their cakes, etc. If there are any problems with flavors or a situation like this, as most retailers, we simply ask that you bring some of the product back in so we can see that there was indeed a problem and then do our best to satisfy the situationThank youSincerely,
Rachelle

My son graduated from high school and is leaving for basic training in August. I wanted a special cake for his graduation/military send off party. I've had caked from The Pennsylvania Bakery before and they were always good...although expensive. I decided to overlook the expense since this was a special occasion. When I served the cake at the party it was extremely DRY. Most of the guests did not eat their cake, including my son, who loves cake. I was terribly embarrassed and disappointed to serve a cake of such poor quality to my guests. I called numerous times the following week to speak to the manger...was always told that she was out of the building. When I finally did speak to the manager 3 weeks later, I was told there was nothing she could do since I no longer had the cake. Seriously? She really expected me to still have the cake 3 weeks later? It was stale the first day, it would have been like a hockey puck 3 weeks later. She did not even offer an apology for delivery such a poor product. I will NOT be doing business with The Pennsylvania Bakery again! BUYER BEWARE!

Review: I purchased a 10" round German chocolate cake, totaling $51.95 (tax included) for my daughter's 7th birthday. On Saturday night, I had a house full of guests. When I cut into the cake, there was a hair attached to the end of my knife in the middle of the cake.

Beccause the bakery is closed on Sunday, and I work Monday and Tuesday, I contacted the bakery on Wednesday (my first day off). I spoke with the manager and explained the situation. She asked me if I took a picture of the hair/cake (which I did not), and did we eat the cake (yes we did). I told her I had a house full of people on a Saturday night, what was I supposed to do when that was what we were eating? I asked if she would be willing to credit me for half of the cake - which I thought was fair - and she was not willing to budge.

She apologized, but unfortunately, because we didn't save the cake or take a picture, she could not do anything for me. In the moment, who thinks of taking a picture of a hair in a cake? What was I supposed to do when that's the only thing to eat?

I often heard very good things about this bakery, so this was my first (and my last) purchase. I told her that when you are paying over for $50 for a cake, you don't expect a hair in it. I told her, because she's not willing to help me, I will pass my conversation along to people I know not purchase from the bakery. She responded by saying: "Make sure you tell them that you ate the cake."

I file this complaint on the principal that she wasn't willing to negotiate when the product was defective.Desired Settlement: As stated above, I would like credit for half the price of the cake.
