My family of 7 went to this business for a family portrait. I prepaid the asked fee for the proofs. Once my family chose all the photos we liked we asked for a price. I was given a price of approximately $1,200. I thought the fee was too high and asked to purchase just five 4x6 prints, which I had previously been told was $25.00 each. The business refused to sell any photos to me for less than $800.00. The business also refused any further communication with me.
Family of five hired me to take their family portraits. I charge $150 to do both a studio and an outdoor session as my "creative fee." They paid and I spent over 3 hours photographing them. Within a week they had the proofs available to them online. Weeks passed with no response from them. Finally they sent email wanting cost of package (I have a pdf of all email communications with them). I gave them a price. It was too much. They lowered what they wanted. I gave them a price. It was too much. I offered to zoom meet them to find out their budget and give them the best package based on their budget. They never responded. Every email they wanted less and less until it became offensive to me as an artist. She was told that the proofs would be sold "after" a package was purchased of a certain amount as a bonus (which she hasn't done). I will not sell anything for less than it cost me to make and I truly am offended at this bickering. To date I probably have spent 8 - 10 hours on this client. She knew the cost of my photography before we started. I will refund her the $150 even though I did the work that the session fee was for but I refuse to sell her the 4x6's so that she can scan them and try to get away
I am rejecting this response because: There was no mention of a "minimum required purchase" when I scheduled the appointment, nor was I was not informed of what her prices were before the session. My family is not able to get together to take another family photo else where. I would appreciate being able to purchase the five 4x6 prints I asked for without the digital copies.
