Review: On Feb *, 2015 I ordered 3 new magazines from this Company and renewed another one for 2 more years. Today is May **, 2015 and I have not received one magazine yet. The phone number they gave me was disconnected the next day and other phone numbers I found just keep ringing busy even of I call at 3:00 AM EST. I have emailed back and forth to them and they say they are looking into my order, but nothing ever happens! I received a phone call around 9:00 PM on April **, 2015 saying to wait 3 or 4 weeks as they are running behind! I spend $364.94 3 and a half months ago and have not received one magazine to date. Infact Road and Track has cancelled my subscription even after I paid them for a one year renewal. They will not give me a phone number and the one they gave me was disconnected. 3 1/2 months and no magazines and very poor communication.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $364.94 and I will get the magazines from another source.

Review: Agreed to a 5 year renewal for a current magazine subscription, a charge was made to my account and paid (12-*-12) but the publisher was never contacted and there is no indication of a renewal. The Publishers Service was contacted several months ago about this and I was told that the Publishers Service Office waits until closer to the expiration date. This then took it beyond the time frame for a complaint and action from the credit card company. Several attempts to reach the company by me and the bank have been unsuccessful. I am at a loss of $383.00, and the continuation of my magazineDesired Settlement: Refund the total amount $383.00

Response:

We have already fulfilled her order. We apologize for the delay - we use an outside shipping company and cannot control exactly when the items are shipped. We have already sent the order over and she should begin receiving her magazine.

A follow up from my complaint ID[redacted] - the publisher has not indicated that a renewal has been received from the Publishers Service Office. The last edition was delivered today and the mailing label has not been changed to include the additional 5 years that were purchased 12/** of last year.

Thank you again for your attention to this problem.

Review: This company represented themselves as an agent for New York Magazine. We paid $100 for a 4 year subscription on June 14, 2014 and the check was cashed by them on July *, 2014. [redacted] shows no record of the transaction.Desired Settlement: A refund of $100 and for organization not to be allowed to represent themselves in a fraudulent fashion.

Review: I received a call from this company. They said they were the Economist. I told them if they were a magazine reseller, I did not want to work with them but they insisted they were, in fact, The Economist Magazine. They offered a 3 year subscription to the magazine for just a little more than the other offers I had received, or the last amount I paid so I said yes, asking again if they were the actual Economist organization and the man said yes. This occurred in December, 2012. I have never received an issue of the magazine from them. I have called their number and left several messages. They have never called back. There has never been an actual person to speak with. They have extensions to dial, but after a few minutes they disconnect me. I received a piece of paper asking me to sign something a few weeks ago. I did not sign it but I did call my credit card company, Citibank.Desired Settlement: I want to cancel this transaction for non compliance, and for lying to me about who they were. I want my credit card company to refund my $160 subscription fee which was charged to my Citibank card.

Review: My parents had a subscription to Scientific American (SA). This Spring they began to get two copies and it appeared that my father (who is in his nineties) got a call from a sales person with Publishers Service Office and thought he was renewing his subscription directly with Scientific American when in fact he was signed up for a second subscription. My parents decided to cancel both subscriptions and not just the extra one. I called SA number (###-###-####) listed in the magazine and spoke with a lady. The lady professionally cancelled one subscription and I was told a prorated refund would be sent to my parents address. She notified me second subscription was through third party agency. A series of referrals lead through a couple of companies and finally to Publishers' Service Office where I was told I could cancel that subscription and get a refund on it. The number I was given was: ###-###-####The company name given was: Publishers' Service Office [redacted]e-mail address: [redacted]Calling that number got me redirected to:###-###-####Calling that number got a recording with statement that Extension 5 was an incorrect extension but I was able to leave message. After calling multiple times at different times of the day, I finally got a call back on Thursday evening. The individual said his name was [redacted] and that he was an employee of Scientific American. When I questioned that based on the information from calling SA directly that this was a third party company, he became rude. When I asked him to repeat something he said he began to call me a rd. He insisted he worked for SA. When I asked for his boss/supervisor, he told me he worked directly for the head of Scientific American. He refused to give a name for his boss/supervisor. He consistently insisted he worked for SA and made very derogatory remarks wrt the other people I reference talking to including the lady at SA. He said all sales of SA were final, no refunds for cancelled subscriptions. Well into the conversation he suddenly said the conversation was being recorded. There was no such statement made at the beginning of the call. I kept him talking trying to get more information (and I admit to take up more of his time). He finally hung up. I called back immediately because I had not made the request for my parents number to be put on their do not call list. Initially I thought I had the same person but not sure as the person began to alter their voice. He disguised his voice in what I took was an attempt to mimic my southern accent in a mocking fashion. He said refund would only be $29. He also said there was no [redacted] who worked for the company. He was also quite rude and argued that his company had no responsibility wrt to maintaining their own do not call list wrt to former customers who asked not to be called anymore. He then changed his story and said that my parents might actually owe money. The call ended quite unsatisfactory. In pursuing the cancellation originally and after first talking with Publishers Service office I spoke with [redacted] at [redacted] and [redacted] at Priority One Clearing Service. I believe both of these ladies did as much as they could. The problem is with the Publishers Service Office. Note also that my parents number has been on the do not call list since July of 2003. This company should not have called my parents in the first place, much less doing so by masquerading as Scientific American.Desired Settlement: Full refund of the entire subscription which was in "error". Also placing my parents phone number on their do not call list.

Response:

We service various magazines, and clearly answer all greetings with "The Publishers Service Office".

Either way, we will gladly refund this cardholder.

We would just need to know who to make the check out to & the address it should be sent to.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

I do not accept the response because the company did not answer with such an identifying greeting when I called and got an answer and their automated response, when no one answered, did not identify the office as Publishers Service Office, either. The individual I spoke with on the first two occasions, and he may have been the same individual, specifically argued that they were Scientific American. My father thought he was talking with Scientific American and never a third party sales office when he talked to them. He would not have knowingly agreed to a second subscription to the same magazine. This misrepresentation is the crux of my complaint. If they are now doing as the reply says, and also identifying them truthfully when making calls, then this part of my complaint is satisfied. I however have no evidence of this.

I did receive a call from someone who identified himself as [redacted] and he did agree to send my parents a refund. I am waiting to receive that refund although I was told to expect it to take up to a week or more. They should already have my parents name and address and the amount in their records and indicated so in the phone call. Just in case, the name is [redacted]. at 5300 Zebulon Road, Box 2130, Macon, GA 31210.

I have also asked Publishers Service Office to place my parents number on their do not call list. They are already, and have been for over ten years, on the National Do Not Call list. I would like to hear confirmation of this.

If they comply with the placing my parents on the do not call list and my parents received the proper refund, I will personally consider the matter closed as I do not expect to do business with them in the future. The issue of their false representation is more serious and I will leave that to Revdex.com and the NY Attorney Generals’ office to determine closure.

Thank you.

Review: Dec. [redacted] 2012 ordered 1 year of the national equirer @ $191.88 (sku #[redacted]) Order # [redacted] for which they charged my credit card on same date. I was instructed to sign a paper and send back which I did on feb. *, 2013. To this date I have yet to receive anything from them and every phone # that I have tried is not in service. I wish to have my money refunded but can't reach anyone and don't know what other course of action to take.Desired Settlement: I wish to have my money credited back to my credit card, I have a copy of my bill where I was charged.
