Evans Brewing Co at the Albany Pump Station, I have gathered the information below regarding our consumer complaint. The consumers card in question has last four digits ending [redacted]Transaction date: Saturday, August 29, 2015First Contact with consumer acknowledging a potential problem: Sunday, August 30, 2015Our records show (see attached) the card was never used for payment and they needed to wait 24-72 hours for the bank hold to clear from the initial swipe. We told the consumer the charge should be cleared by Wednesday, September 2 and if it is not, we are happy to refund the check. The decision to split the bill was a late decision and was brought to our server's attention after the card was initially swiped for the full amount. The server then swiped the card again to split the bill in half, at the request of our consumer. The manager's response of "basically cannot do anything" was mistakenly taken out of context, as the conversation happened on Sunday, where banks and credit card processing companies do not work. We needed to wait until the credit card batch was cleared before we can issue a refund, if needed, which can only happen when the banks are open. The attached records show the initial swipe of the card for $73.75 and it is stated as "UNUSED" which means their bank placed a hold on their account, but they were never charged by us. The record also shows the correct charge of $43.88 being "POSTED" for payment on the same day, the amount of $43.88 being equivalent to their half of the bill, $36.88, plus a $7.00 tip.On September 2, 2015, we provided the consumer with a refund for $79.65. This covered the charge on their card of $43.88 plus an additional $35.77, which essentially resulted in us paying the customer $35.77 to eat a free meal. Any hold on their account funds above their actual bill is due to their bank, not due to any charges by the Albany Pump Station.Sincerely,[redacted]Proprietor, Albany Pump Station
