Review: I signed up for a dog bed quilting class that was canceled by the instructor, [redacted] and I received a call on October 25, from [redacted], an employee at The Quilted Crow. The class was scheduled for Saturday, October 26. Attached is a copy of one of the owners response. As of today I have not heard that they rescheduled. TThe Quilted Crow[redacted]Hide detailsTo:[redacted]Date:November 20, 2013, 10:31 AMHi [redacted],We were disappointed about the necessity of cancelling the dog bed class as well, but [redacted] comes all the way from New York and could not justify the trip to teach the class for one person. As it turned out, you were in Florida and would not have made the class even if she did come. We have not done anything to reschedule, but if you would like me to, I'll see what she can do. [redacted] and I are playing phone tag this week, but I left a message with her that it is fine for you to come this Friday. See you then,[redacted]TThe Quilted Crowto [redacted]12 days agoDetailsSorry to hear about your brother. Do remember to take care of yourself. We'll miss you. Dear **. [redacted].
Complaint ID #[redacted] filed 12/3/13 at 12am
Let me just begin by saying that this complaint has totally stunned me. I know this person, have had her in a couple of my classes, helped her choose fabric for several quilts, helped her one on one with issues she was having with other projects she worked on, and special ordered items for her when she needed them. Outside of the shop, my husband and I attended an art show in which she exhibited some of her pieces and we even bought one. In short, I thought we had the type of relationship that if there was a problem or misunderstanding that she would come and discuss it with me. In the case of this class, I guess I just misread the whole situation. I certainly never meant to withhold the class fee from her. Had she ever expressed wanting it, it was hers to have. Below, I have outlined our class cancellation policy and the events leading up to this complaint as best as I understand them to be.
Our class cancellation policy is as follows:
If a class is cancelled by the instructor, the customer has the option of having the class fee applied toward a rescheduled class, another upcoming class, or the fee may be refunded. In this case the instructor cancelled the class due to low enrollment. We tried to reschedule but low enrollment continued to be a problem. We then connected the customer with the instructor to see if it was possible to do a one on one but did not hear back from either of them. The customer still had the option available of having the fee applied toward another class or requesting a refund. She did not request a refund. If she had requested a refund it would have been given to her. We are happy to refund the fee of $25.
Sincerely,
Consumer
