Review: I took my Mother of the Groom's gown to be sold. After a few months the gown went "missing". I was told it was not sold since it didn't say so in the computer. I asked if that could be a mistake and was told no. I did sign a contract saying that they were not responsible for a bunch of things, one of which, was thief. This is the "fine print" that they are getting me with. The store was not broken into, (which then I could understand). It was just my dress that is missing. I asked for compensation as if the dress was sold. They refused. Instead, mailing me a receipt pretending it was donated so I could deduct it on my tax return. That is NOT what happen. This is very unfair and one sided. Bottom line is, we really don't know that the dress was stolen. Nobody knows what REALLY happened!Desired Settlement: To be compensated as if the dress was sold at the price they were asking. Not so much about the money but the fact they could get away with this kind of treatment of their customers.

Response:

My First response will be this letter addressing each line of the written complaint from [redacted] concerning her consignment from 8/6/13 at The Resale Boutique.

[redacted] states that she brought her Mother of the Groom gown to our shop to resell. A copy of her contract is enclosed. She read the contract before consigning the gown and was told that she needed to sign it if she was in agreement. She was also informed that any garment that has not sold will be donated at the end of the consignment period. She knew that if the gown did not sell it would be donated. She called our shop to check the status on her consignment and spoke to me, I am the owner and called another time and spoke to [redacted], a sales consultant at my shop. I called her back and said we would look for her gown as it had not yet sold according to my computer and I would get back to her. Before I called her back she called again and spoke to [redacted]. In that conversation she was informed that we were still looking for the gown and s e admitted to [redacted] that it could have been shoplifted and was very understanding of this issue.

[redacted] felt this was a mistake as stated in her complaint and is complaining about our contract. She suggested that since the store was not robbed and is upset with the "fine print" of a binding contract that she signed that we are out to get her . She expects to be paid for something that we have no evidence of ever selling. I do not pay for any commission for anything that is not sold. My belief is that the gown is missing and must pilfered . This is rare occurrence in our business. I explained that it does and has happened in the past and in every store in the world.. [redacted] feels this is unfair. It is unfair to my business, too. I am not happy about this situation. Our consignors have trusted us and brought us beautiful inventory for 46 years and if this happens we donate a garment in place of the missing garment and give them a tax receipt. The can choose to use that or no but a brown gown did go to our charity and I compensated them with a receipt.

[redacted] said the "Bottom Line" is that we do not know what happened to her gown and that nobody knows. What we do know, since we do not have cameras is that it did not sell, it was never put through as a sale and never posted to her account. This is a complete answer to her complaint. Following this will be another note of what went on with this family and how badly they behaved and abused us.
