The Reserve at Lakepoint Reviews (1)

I have been going to Dr. Brauer for 15 years. He always seemed to be genuinely care about the well being of my dogs. The downside of that was he was expensive. In 2015, my girls yearly checkup with vaccines, heartworm meds, and labs for 1 dog was $1200. Friends and family told me I should change vets b/c I was getting ripped off, but I continued to stay. Jim was the lead vet tech and he was bomb. He raced around like he had drank a pot of expresso, but that was ok. He knew how to handle my very difficult dog. I loved him and trusted him completely. I started noticing changes. Stuff being removed from the lobby, staff who had been there for almost as long as I've been going there, gone. A slew of new faces coming and going. Then suddenly, Jim, was gone as well? When I asked, nobody knew anything about him. He really knew how to handle Chloe. Moving on, I took Chloe in for a dental, which was to be her last one. She's almost 15 yrs old, but she also has Addisons. I was very nervous for her to go under due to her age and the Addisons. Dr Brauer assured me she would be fine and he had never let me down before. On the day of surgery, I had asked them to pull one lone molar in the back that she refused to let me brush, but only if Dr Brauer thought it was safe to do. Then I get a call from a tech during surgery stating they had started to pull on the molar when her eye started to swell up. I asked if the tooth was loose, they said no, and I told them to leave it alone at that point. I asked why would her eye swell and the tech said something to do with the way the vasculature runs through there. So at this point I just want her to get through surgery so I can bring her home. When I go to pick her up later, I could hardly believe what I was seeing. Her eye was all but hanging out of the socket and it was bloody! Again I asked what happened. This time they said they were getting ready to pull it when her eye started swelling. She stated that they hadn't even started to pull on it when the swelling started. Ok, first of all, you guys need to get your stories straight. Secondly, why is dr Brauer not out here explaining why and how this happened. I get my Chloe home and try to care for her, but whatever happened severely traumatized her. Nine months later and she is still not the same dog I dropped off for a dental that day. But here's the kicker. Within a week, not sure of exact time, I made an appointment with dr Brauer because I wanted an explanation. He told me in all his years of practice he had never seen anything like this happen. I asked if maybe someone could have dropped something on her maybe someone got mad b/c she bit them? He stated no, because he had been supervising. Really? So you were supervising while techs worked on my 14 year old, medically complex dog and something you've never seen happen, happens. Sounds like a bunch of crap to me. THEN, he tried to charge me for an office visit. I told them I wasn't going to pay it. You should be reimbursing me for the damage you did to my dog. My baby trusts no one now, not even me. I can no longer comfort her the way I used to. The eye they damaged developed a cataract and she is nearly blind. But, there is a happy ending. Dr Brauer is still driving his Hummer!!!
