Misrepresented the state of the apartment complex and did not offer a refund. 4/9/19-4/11/19
I applied for an apartment online based on the photographs and details provided on their website. Please do your due diligence before you do this. They took my $200 and offered not even any partial money back. The place is poor quality and is misrepresented in photographs as the state of their ongoing renovation they do not distinguish this anywhere on their site. When I arrived they had told me the place was not renovated that I had applied for and would be getting something other than was shown in the photo which they did not have on their site at all. This was fraudulent advertising and switch and bait. Also the application fee is very high so as to lock you in if you are needing a place to move. To show one picture on your website to mislead people they are getting quality when in fact it is not is fraud and misrepresentation.

Desired Outcome

I would like a full refund of the amount paid based on what I was expected to be getting.

The Retreat Apartments at McAlpine Creek Response • Aug 21, 2019

We have classic and renovated apartments. He was given a choice to change the apartment that he chose on line. We are very clear with the choices that each prospect has. In addition, an application is $50 which we do pay and did process the application. The $150 is the admin fee and also holds the apartment home which was nonrefundable since the application was approved. Mr. NSF'ed his payment of $200, which left the owner paying to process his application and also for the days the apartment was held off the market. So in addition to the complaint, Mr. complaint is mute in that he has not paid for even services that were rendered.

I have lived at the Retreat at Mcalpine Creek for 4 years. There negligence to respond to repairs are uninhabitable. I continued over mths to years to have a water leak fixed that ran down my living room wall and across the living room ceiling. I called the office for days leaving messages to infirm them I had a water leak. It took 3 days before they even came up to fix the leak... or, evaluate the issue. They stopped the leak but, never repaired the damage! They painted over what was damp. I had another water leak 1mth later. I called emergency maintenance.. got NO response. The water soaked one part of my foot stool. I called and called the office ., could not get an answer. Went to the office told the lady I needed this water leak repaired. NEVER got fixed ..mold had been a problem in the apartment for years which was only painted and sprayed over. The water and mold was so severe, it has left me with damaged furniture and had to vacate the apartment due to toxic mold! This has yet to be resolved.

Complex has had the water shut off 5-10 times in this month alone without warning and refuses to provide a solution to this issue
At the beginning of October the complex scheduled maintenance to the pipes throughout the complex that would last for three weeks resulting in water shut offs from 10-5 every day. After complaints from residents, this project was never started. The next day, however, the water was shut off for multiple hours in the evening. Since then, every few days there has been water shut offs without notice. People are frustrated with the lack of communication and the lack of the ability of a basic human need - water to drink and bathe in. The local news has been out to the complex and many complaints have been filed to the office, without resolution. They refuse to take any discount from rent for the month of October and November and when asked about compensation, employees responded "well, we are doing you a favor, your water bill should be lower this month". Please help us find a resolution to this issue.

Desired Outcome

The complex needs to offer some form of refund to all residents. This should most likely come in the form of a discounted rental rate for November or December. $150 - $200 off rent would appease the community for having to deal with the constant water issues.

The Retreat Apartments at McAlpine Creek Response

We have several pipes break and repairs were made as quickly as possible. Some of the issues involved finding plumbing supply houses open at night. We sympathize with the residents and had a water tanker with potable water delivered to the property during the most recent outage. Ownership has offered a concession of a days rent concession for each day the water was turned off. This credit has been applied to everyone's November rent.

continuing issues with mold in my apartment
last year 2016 a hole in the front of my building went straight through to my spare room, mold growing in corner of room.fixed but this is now coming through wall once again Sept. 2017. Earlier this month, August 2017 a hot water heater located in a seperate room was leaking and had to be replaced. I was concerned about mold again and was told that there was none. Weeks later, I could smell the odor from that room and when I looked in mold was growing. Also my bedroom closet backs that room and the corner was wet and moldy. last week Sept.12 a leak from the upstairs apartment, laundry room, came down into my laundry room ceiling and back wall all wet, and probably onto floor but I can't lift my washer and dryer myself to check. I also had a leak from the refrigerator,Feb 2017 which was replaced and since I can't move unit, I suspect that that area may be moldy also. The outside corner of my bedroom has a large hole that water runs into and signs of mold are there also. That is now every room in my apartment! I have fans running all the time in each room in an effort to combat the smell. I also have a community outdoor water facet that is on with my water bill that was never capped as promised. I believe that my apartment may be one of the last apartments not upgraded and this is not a priority, but mold is a health issue and I have also call the board of health code enforcement #XXXXXXX dated 9-18-17

Desired Outcome

promised possible move to another apartment and help with move as I have no money for a mover I have a lease till April and need that honored at present rate also

The Retreat Apartments at McAlpine Creek Response
