Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: In reply to Mrs. [redacted] "story", the only fact that she stated correctly was that we purchased the prom dress on 2/15/15.  She told us at the time of purchase that the dress would be in on April 25th.  I in fact called the store and asked if the dress had arrived on April 25th.  The salesperson who took the call checked the inventory and noted it was not in the store and told me she would check with the manufacturer on Monday April 27th.  We did not receive any communication from the store prior to my phone inquiry on April 25th.  We received a call from the store on Monday May 4th stating the dress had come in.  [redacted] made an appointment for that evening after she was done with work for a fitting.  After the dress was pinned, [redacted] paid the balance due on the dress ($250), and was told she could not pick up the dress until 4 PM on May 14th.  We asked if we could pick up the dress on Saturday May 9th or Tuesday May 12th but we were told it wouldn't be ready.  In the end, the time was adjusted to 7 PM on May 14th because [redacted] was scheduled to work that day.  On May 5th, we received a call asking us to pay the final payment on the dress so they could start the alterations; as noted the final amount due had already been paid when the fitting was done.    While on the phone, I asked to speak to Mrs. [redacted] as my credit card showed a transaction to the Right Fit.  Apparently the payment we made was credited to different client's account, a mistake which was eventually corrected. On May 14th at 11:27 AM (the day the dress was to be picked up), we received a call from Mrs. [redacted] asking what the plan was for the hem as she couldn't recall what was discussed previously (this message is saved on my answering machine).  I texted [redacted] at school and she contacted Mrs. [redacted] to refresh her memory. On May 14th at 7 PM (the day before Prom), [redacted] arrived to pick up the dress only to find Mrs. [redacted] still working on the alterations as they were not completed as promised.  [redacted] was indeed at the shop for 3 hours because once Mrs. [redacted] finished, [redacted] tried the dress on and found the alterations to be substandard.  The shoulders were taken in too high and the material was buckled in the back, causing the dress design to be completely altered.  The shoulder stitching could be seen in plain view (unlike before the dress was altered).  The dress was raised too tight under the axilla (armpit) region.  There were several pulls in the fabric on the left side of the dress that were new.  The hem was stitched unevenly and it was very clumpy.  At some point [redacted], tired from her long day and severely stressed by the events at Mrs. [redacted] shop, told Mrs. [redacted] that it was "fine" and left with the dress. The shop is 1 hour from our house.  After driving home, [redacted] tried on the dress and immediately broke down in tears as she felt the dress did not fit properly due to the alterations and was ruined.  At midnight that night, she took the dress to a friend's house, as her mother is a seamstress.  She worked on repairing the shoulders of the dress which appeared to be cut.  They were unable to get the dress back to its original design due there being an insufficient amount of material left to work with.  The woman working on the dress attached straps to the shoulders to make the dress fit properly [redacted] returned home with the dress after the damage done by Mrs. [redacted] was repaired sufficiently to allow the dress to be work properly.  She had school the next day until noon, and then had a hairdresser appointment prior to the prom activities which were scheduled to begin at 5 PM.  There was no time for a return trip to the shop to allow Mrs. [redacted] to attempt to repair the damage she did the previous day, and [redacted] was fortunate to have a friend with a mom who could help her out.Mrs. [redacted] did ask [redacted] to tweet the dress, and [redacted] did tweet it but deleted it after the alteration fiasco.  I did leave a post on [redacted] about the destruction of the dress and I left a very nasty message on her voicemail at the shop, hoping that the other staff there would hear it and perhaps not destroy some other girl's dress.  Mrs. [redacted] needs to be held accountable for her actions, as I do not consider $155.00 a "minimal" charge for taking in shoulders, putting in breast pads, and doing a hem job. One other thing, my daughter was voted into Prom Court one week prior to the prom, luckily that had nothing to do with the dress or the alterations.  As it was, she was only able to attend thanks to the seamstress who worked on her dress until 2:00 AM, repairing the damage done by Mrs. [redacted].  At this point, after fully realizing how badly the dress was damaged by her substandard alterations, I am now asking for a full refund of the $500 dress purchase price as well as the $155.00 charge for alterations.  I would also like a Mrs. [redacted] to send a written letter of apology to [redacted] for putting her through two stressful, sleepless nights.I have attached photos of the alterations done by Mrs. [redacted] and then the dress after the repairs by the other seamstress.
Regards,
[redacted]

In response to [redacted] story. I am completely and utterly appalled that she would insinuate that I would not state the facts as I remember them. I am an honest hard working woman who treats all of her customers with respect and I go above and beyond to make sure everyone leaves my store satisfied. As this is what I did with [redacted].

In response to when the dress would arrive, the fact is that I have no control over when a dress will be sent since I am at the mercy of the designers.

On May 14th at 11:29 I texted [redacted] and told her that I wasn’t sure what we were doing with the horsehair hem because I had remembered there was confusion about keeping it or taking it out. This was a courtesy call as to make sure that I was doing exactly what she wanted. She texted me and said no she did not want to pay the extra money for keeping it. Then later that day her mother called and said they wanted it back in. Like I said they were back and forth. That’s why I called in the first place. I enclosed a copy of the original receipt of what was done on the dress to show my minimal charges. As she failed to mention that I took in the sides. Which was not tight under her arm, nor was it cut!

[redacted] was also false in saying that [redacted] arrived at 7:00 to pick up her dress because she arrived around 6:15 (which I had suggested to her because of the confusion.) When I gave it to her she immediately told me she didn’t like how high the dress came up in the back. I worked continuously and was extremely patient with her making sure she was happy. After 3 hours of working on the dress [redacted] said in her exact words that the top fit “perfect”! We steamed the dress after that and [redacted] said she was happy and I walked her out. This situation would have never taken place if [redacted] came to the pickup with [redacted]. She knew there was a concern earlier in the day. Why wouldn't she come and make sure everything was done correctly if there was speculation.

After I got home that night at around 11:30 I got a notification that [redacted] left a message on my ** wall saying that I had destroyed her daughter’s prom dress. That was an unlawful comment based on the fact if something is destroyed its unwearable. I have done hundreds of prom dresses and two [redacted] and never destroyed a dress. It was a complete surprise also since [redacted] left happy as far as I was concerned. If [redacted] would have called my cell phone (which [redacted] had done before) I would have driven to her house to pick up the dress and brought it back to them. [redacted] had every opportunity to call my cell instead of leaving a message on my wall and my business line after hours and then contacting the Revdex.com without giving me the opportunity first.

Based on the fact that I had no idea she left unhappy and took that dress to someone else who totally altered the structure of it there is no way she is due any money in my opinion. I feel she owes me more money based on all the extra work and time I put into making that dress fit right. The pictures of what she posted are under the dress and cannot be seen as far as I can tell. After she had the other seamstress completely change the structure of the dress there is no way I can tell what my work is and what is not. She stated that it appeared to be cut but like I have stated before, there was NOTHING cut on that dress until she took it to someone else. I could have taken that dress back and put it to its original state.

I hope that after my explanation of what happened that this will rectify the situation. I did learn a valuable lesson from this. From now on a prom shopper will no longer be able to pick up her dress without a parent present.

Thank you

Response:

[redacted] and her Daughter [redacted] came into my store to order a dress on Feb 15, 2015. I was told by the manufacturer that the dress was suppose to be in by April 25. I explained later in a text message to her daughter [redacted] that the dress would not come on the 25th because it was a weekend and that it would be coming in later. The dress and alterations were done on May 4th. Which I pinned the dress exactly like it was going to be sewn. When we set up the pick up time I offered to have the dress ready Tuesday of that week and they were the ones that choose the date the night before prom. I called them on the day they were picking up the dress as a courteous because her daughter was going back and forth at the time of the fitting to decide whether she was going to keep the hem with the horsehair in it or not. But she said she didn't not want to pay the extra. She texted me back and said take it out. 1 1/12 hours later after it was taken out she said she wanted it back again. There was no time at that point. When she arrived to pick up the dress she decided she didn't like how high it came up in the back. I spent 3 hours with her taking the dress in and out and trying to satisfy her. She was very indecisive. After all of my extra time spent with her she said she was happy. She asked to purchase a garment bag and I gave her one for free to keep if she tweeted that she bought her dress from me. She lied and never did that. That night when I got home I saw that [redacted] posted on my [redacted] that I destroyed her daughters prom dress. She also left me a very nasty message on my answering machine after hours and never once returned my call. She had my cell phone number which she had called before but never choose to speak to me directly. I left her a message to bring back the dress and I would fix it and put it back to its original state. I did not cut anything on that dress. I had no idea they even wanted a refund because her daughter told me that the dress looked great. I never charged them any extra for all the time I spent trying to satisfy her. In the end her daughter wore that dress to prom and was chosen for Prom Court. For all the time I spent and the minimal amount of money I charged for her alterations I feel she is not due any refund.Sent on: 5/29/2015 9:02:26 AM
