The River Inn and Banquet Facility

Review: I reserved a room on Sunday July 5th for one night at the River Inn Hotel. The reason why I am staying there is for an out of town wedding that I will be attending. I reserved the room with out any problems and was going to be charged $99 and some change for a one night stay. I was very pleased that I could get a room with such little notice. I received a phone call on July 11 at 2:30 PM from River Inn Hotel saying that there was an issue with my reservation. We discussed the issue and I found out the hotel made a mistake that in order for me to stay there I would have to purchase a 2nd night because there is a two night minimum charge. If I did not accept the terms my reservation would be immediately canceled. I of course said I would not agree to the terms because it took them almost a week to notify me of this change and there was no discussion of a 2 night minimum charge when I originally made reservation. The hotel did not try to amend their actions with offering a discount at another hotel or giving me any credit. I said I wouldn't accept the charge and they immediately canceled my reservation.Desired Settlement: I would like to stay at the River Inn for one night and be charged to stay for one night. If this can not happen I would like the hotel to pay for me to stay at another hotel.

The guest had made a reservation for August 2nd, 2014. It is and has always been a company policy for that weekend, that we have a 2 night minimum. He stated that he is coming out of town for a wedding. The wedding party and guests had to take the 2 nights along with all the other guests staying for events going on in the area. We nicely explained to him that we have a new front desk clerk who overlooked that weekends policy. We apologized to him and offered him the Friday night along with the rest of the group, but he declined. We offered him a 10% discount off of his stay but he still declined to stay. I explained to him that it was an honest mistake, but we have to follow the company policy. The guest stated if he couldn't have just 1 night then he would have to cancel his reservation because he wouldn't stay for the 2 nights. The guests reservation was then cancelled with no charge to his card.
