The office in Charlotte operates with improper business practices. Details and attentiveness are non existent amongst members of the office. Our close date was 9/28. The Tuesday prior I was notified of a lein issue on the house we were selling. I spent 9 hours in 4 days with the bank to get resolution for a bank error. The bank told me the attorney normally handles this! The Friday before close the issue was resolved. Our appointment was Monday 9/28 at 9am. No one was in the office, my realtor knocked loud when a man appeared from the back. He looked up the info and said the person handling our close overslept. He started the process in her absence(obviously nervous and sweating profusely). The pay off was over 30 days old and incorrect. We called to have it faxed but said we did not want this to hold up the close. We left the keys, leaving around 11am due to her tardiness. Later in the day our realtor called since she had not heard anything. They said they were waiting on bank info, she said again not to hold it up. At 4pm she contacted them again, this time they blamed the buyers bank saying we would not close that day. We later found out a moving truck was at our house (we had not closed) but the keys were transferred. We were infuriated since we were still liable. During the process we gave a voided check for the money transfer. We ended up closing a day late. The check was mailed to my parents house (temporary address) however we are not there, and it should have been electronicly completed. It took another two days to have this resolved and the check deposited into our bank. The whole experience was terrible. The office acted, dressed and communicated unprofessionally. This office is an extension of a larger office. I find it hard to believe no one knows of my anger since my realtor communicated on numerous occasions for me.Desired SettlementI paid a total of $610 to this attorneys office. My aggravation and time warrant a refund. They did not provide the service in a timely manner or in a professional way.Business Response /[redacted]/Contact Name and Title: [redacted], Esq.Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@shoaflaw.comWe strive to provide a positive closing experience for every client, every time. I called the client directly and appreciated the feedback and have instituted measures to avoid a similar experience for others. Client indicated they were satisfied with my proposed method of resolution.Consumer Response /[redacted]/THANKYOU Final Consumer Response

We sold our house and closed on Oct 23rd. At that time we paid Wake County taxes, when they had already been paid.We sold our house and closed on Oct 23rd.At that time we paid Wake County taxes for Jan1 - Oct23 of this year.According to this website: [redacted]"Annual tax bills are calculated for the fiscal taxing period of July 1 through June 30. They are not based on a calendar year. (Example: A bill issued in July 2015 would cover the period of July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2016.)"So, we were already paid through June 30 of this year (since we paid taxes last year) based on the Wake County taxing period. You collected $2,358.00 at closing for Jan 1 - Oct 23. We should have only paid July 1 - Oct 23 at closing.Additionally, Wells Fargo paid $2,917.53 on Oct 20, which was for the tax bill covering July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2016. We should get all of that back considering the fact that we don't own the house any longer and we should have only paid July 1 - Oct 23 at closing.I have tried contacting this firm several times and even sent them an Escrow analysis and WF statement showing that we paid $2,917.53 in taxes. This was sent on November 18th.Since then there has been no response to any of my email inquiries on status.I have called and spoken with [redacted], who tells me that she is checking on it and will call me back. However, I never receive a call back.Desired SettlementI would like for whoever is in charge of this operation to contact me. I paid $5,275.53 in county taxes when I should have only paid from July 1st - Oct 23rd, which by my calculation is $911.22.Business Response /[redacted]/Contact Name and Title: [redacted], Esq.Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@shoaflaw.comPer standard NC real estate contracts taxes are prorated from January 1 to December 31, as was done correctly here. At time of real estate transfer seller's taxes were still owed for 2015.We have assisted seller in being reimbursed for money held in his escrow account, and maintained weekly contact with him until his escrow refund is received.Consumer Response /[redacted]/This complaint can be cancelled/closed. [redacted] went above and beyond to get this issue fixed.Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/
