would wavedThis helps deter people from having us diagnosing a problem, just to have them take it somewhere else and we spent our time, without pay, diagnosing their issuesI believe this to be a pretty common practice in most service shopsThe first two times Mr*** brought his motor to us, we were able to get the solution fixed via warranty, even though the problem could only be user errorThe only way the issues that he had, could have happened, would be through trying to start his motor while it was in gear, when it should be, and will only, start in neutralAfter the second occurrence, we were instructed by Tohatsu (the motor manufacturer) that they would no longer be covering this issue on this engine any furtherAs you know, and as are all manufacturer warranties, they only cover manufacturer defectsThat is why they are all "Limited warranties"They gave this engine not one but two good faith services and the cost of parts and labor for those services adds up to nearly what an entire new engine would costThe third time Mr *** was here with his engine, it sounded to be a completely separate issue, so we told him we would take a look at itWe still had to diagnose it, figure out what the issue was, even before we could see if there was anything that would be covered under warrantyIn our process, which takes time, we discovered that the tether clip (which is not a Tohatsu branded tether), was holding on by just a little bit, thus the motor wanted to run and cut out at the same time, thus the "running rough and bogging down"While discussing the matter with MrValley, we told him that it wasn't a warranty issue (no warranty ever would cover the tether clip not being properly secured on the kill switch), and he would be subject to our $minimum, he was clearly unhappy with thisWe explained to him that if he didn't want to pay for our services, there are other Tohatsu dealers, not that far from here, that he could use for services if he chooses toHe said he gladly would, he left, and he didn't pay us. Review: I had some repair work done on my outboard engine about 3 or 4 years ago and I have contacted them for a record of my receipt three times with no reply they say they have records back to the year 2007. I need to get some more engine work done and the place I am going to bring my boat to wants to know what work was done on it in the past.Desired Settlement: I want a copy of the bill that shows what work was done on my outboard mailed to me!!!!!!
