I graduated from the Skin and Makeup Institute and the education I received there was so valuable that I would recommend it to everyone that wants to learn about skin or that has an infatuation with waxing, clearing up skin, and helping others! The instructors are experts and are very easy going. I also received my certification in Professional Makeup and Corrine was amazing! I would totally recommend this school if you predominantly learn by hands on.

Review: My name is [redacted]. I am a licensed esthetician. I attended a lash extention class at the Skin and Makeup Institute in Phoenix,Az. back in March 2013. I paid upfront $500 for the class. The teacher at the time was a younger girl named [redacted]. She said she had not been doing lashes all that long and that she was self taught to an extent due to her teacher being un-knowlegeable. This was an 7.5 hour class. In the theory we covered the basis of what was included in our kit and what extra things tp purchase or our room set up. We did not cover things that are key to learning lashes, such as sanitation, proper placement of lashes, eye shapes, the size of the lash that should be applied, how to properly remove a set of lashes. After lunch we then did one on one with a maniquin and then our models. The teacher walked around looking at what we were doing but didnt give much input on things.I was asking alot of questions and she didnt seem to have answers too. I left the class and felt very discourged and like it was a waste of my time and money. I then contacted the teacher, asking questions and she once again didnt have much explanation to give me. I asked her how to remove a set of lashes and she replied that she had not done that before! I was then upset by this so I contacted the director of the school. She said at that time she had just taken over as director ans was not aware of these things involved with lash training. I told her I wanted a refun or a half refund so I could go get proper training, she said that was not going to happen and she would offer me another class for free, the same class I took with the same teacher. I said no,that doesnt help me and she became rude and then said she couldnt help me anymore.I then contacted the company who they purchased there kit from([redacted]) and explained to them the issues I was having and they said they had no idea a teacher was representing there company that didnt get training from them. Since March,Ive had to self teach myself, watch video online, talk to other teachers about all this as well as my training. They have all said that for me to pay that much money we shoulve been taught the basics at least of proper lash extensions! I contacted the director of the school again and told her I was having problems and I was unhappy and wanted some sort of compensation and she then hung up on me with her last words stating she didnt have to justify herself to me! I am disgusted with how this has been handled and how unprofessional the director has been and how the school can charge that much money and not cover anything that shouldve been covered.I am asking for this to be a complaint and to be further investigated and some sort of compensation from the school! Thanks for your time.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of what I paid for the class os I can take my education to another school and be properly taught.
