The Industry standard when It comes to the return of adjustable bases is that once delivered it is a non returnable itemAdjustable bases are not considered an item subject to comfort due to the fact that it is either something that you want or do notUnder the terms of our Sleep
Easy Guarantee there is no refund on adjustable bedsThe mattress is subject to a 10% restocking fee with the balance being credited toward the new mattress being chosen I personally spoke to Mr.***s daughter about the situationInitially we did tell her that it was not a refundable item, which under our policy, it is notI did not want to take the set back and had no legal obligation to do so, but, I understood the situation and would not feel right about them being stuck with itShe offered to pay a higher restocking fee in order to return itIf I recall correctly she offered to pay a 30% restocking fee. I actually told her that was to much and it would be less. I cannot recall exactly what was said but I believe we settled on a 25% restocking fee plus, I believe, $to cover originally delivery and the pick up of the itemsThe base units were floor models and the mattresses were brand new and ordered for the customerI believe the reason for the delay from which we agreed to do a refund and the refund date is that Mr.***'s daughter was considering other options other than just the refund and return of the mattress. There are lots of costs that go into a sale of this size which is why there is a policy that adjustable bases are not returnable and there is a restocking fee on the mattresses with the difference going toward a new setUnfortunately, the moment a mattress is opened up and in someone's home it is no longer a new mattress whether it is ever actually used or not. When we take it back it cannot be sold as a new item and has to be heavily discounted in order to do so, typically much more than anything we recoup in restocking fees. I agree that Mr*** was not charged the correct amountI am not sure how *** figured up the refund amount when Mr*** came in.By my calculation the refund should have beenPurchase price-$x 25%= $+$at 7% Tax
