Review: I was a guest at the Standard on 6/*-6/*/13. They provide a service to hold baggage for guests if your hotel room isn't ready or you arrive before check in. When I arrived at the hotel on 6/*, I checked my bags in with their front desk around 1 pm, including a bag containing my laptop, a Macbook Pro worth about $2,000 that was in perfect condition. I had used it to edit photos about two hours before checking into the hotel and had no problems with it, and the laptop had been in my posession in the passenger seat of a car on the way to New York. It received absolutely no damage prior to checking in with the Standard. It was in a protective case in the middle of a hard suitcase, surrounded by clothes when checked into the hotel's front desk. When I picked my bags up around 5:30 and turned my laptop on, the computer's screen was badly damaged and no longer functioning,with the display showing flickering horizontal and vertical lines. I took a video showing the problem and reported it to the front desk, who sent up their night manager to view the problem. When she viewed the laptop, the problem was no longer as bad, but still visible, and I showed her the video I had taken immediately after turning my laptop on. She did mention that the bell hops sometimes treat bags roughly after they're checked in. She sent up a member of the security team, who took all of my information and acknowledged that the computer had clearly been damaged that afternoon and wrote up a report stating so. The next morning, I received a call from the hotel's head of Guest Relations, who not only refused to acknowledge that their bell hop team had mishandled my baggage, therefore causing damage to my extremely expensive possessions, but strongly implied that I had caused the damage and was trying to [redacted] it off on them. This is absolutely not acceptable customer service. For a hotel of that caliber and reputation, I truly expected better treatment, and I'm incredibly disappointed in the way I was treated.Desired Settlement: All I want is for the problems caused to my computer to be repaired and an apology. It's absolutely not fair that I trusted the Standard with my belongings, believing that such an expensive hotel would take care of their guests' belongings, and instead received back a broken laptop and truly rude treatment from guest relations. .
