The Stone Dog Grooming Salon Reviews (%countItem)

2 of my dogs were injured (pics available) while being groomed by Nikki here at the Stone Dog Salon on July 16. 1 of them had to go to the vet because it resulted in an infection and it ended up costing me around $350 for his check up and the 4 different types of medications they had to put him on. I tried to speak to the owner nicely about it, but he ended up yelling at me, cussing at me, not even asking how my dogs were or what kind of infection it was so he obviously didn't even care that their tools are dirty and causing infections, ignored my phone calls, & tried to shut the door in my face when I took them the bill. I have this recorded on video on my phone if needed. He was very nice up until I told him I'd be taking him the bill which is when he told me that Nikki is an independent contractor so it would be up to her to do something about it, so I asked why I had been speaking with him then, as to which he started responding rudely and getting defensive telling me that I "asked for a manager or owner, I got the owner, so what's the problem?" The problem is that if he would've told me about that to begin with when I first called to warn them about a possible infection days before I even took my dog to the vet then I would've obviously been just dealing with Nikki. Neither of them have called me back since then regarding my dog or the situation. I'd also like to add that she lied to me and said my dogs did great. I should've known about the cuts ASAP. Also, there were 2 groomers outside cutting a dogs nails inside of the owners car right next to mine and the dog was not tethered to anything. I don't know if that dog is aggressive or anything, and a groomer inside of the salon eating at her station while others were working right by here, with her mask under her chin. They also claim to have 40 years of experience on their website and they state that "trust and comfort comes first", but I find both to be untrue considering the owner was probably barely in his 30's/40's & from my experience.

The Stone Dog Grooming Salon Response • Aug 18, 2020

To Whom it may concern: On July 14th Ms. brought in a doxiepoo named *** for grooming at the Stone Dog Salon. It was obvious that *** had not been groomed in quite some time. She was covered in dread locks which had twigs, fox tails and other yard debris embedded in them. Her nails were very long to the point they were curling. As I started the groom, I notice scabs and scrapes on her from having the debris in the dread rub against her skin (I took pictures of some of her pre existing wounds). I finished her up and contacted Ms. to come and pick her up. When Ms. came back, she asked if I could do a toenail trim on her other dog named ***, a small chihuahua. I gave her *** she said she “looked great” and took *** in for a quick toenail trim. His nails were an inch long and his coat was very greasy. It was apparent that he also had not been properly cared for. He was very good and it barley took 5 minutes. I gave her *** back and we wished each other a good day. A day or two later she contacted the shop and said she noticed *** had some scratches on her body. The owner advised her to take *** to the vet if it got any worse. 1 week later she called saying that she had to take *** in to the emergency vet due to a skin infection. She asked if she could bring us a copy of her bill to see if we would cover it. The owner of the shop said of course bring the bill in, but he would have to talk to the person that did the groom since we are all independent contractors, and she wasn’t there that day. At this point Ms. got very upset and started swearing at the owner over the phone demanding her bill be paid today. It is standard in any situation like this to have the vet bill reviewed and groomer be notified before any reimbursement can take place. This sent Ms. into a very agitated state, she got extremely nasty with the owner swearing at him and yelling at passerby’s to never bring their dogs to this salon that they cause skin infections. She was asked to please leave the property. There was another groomer outside doing a toenail trim for a client in the car (some dogs are more comfortable with their owners and since we are not having clients enter the shop due to COVID, we do our best to accommodate them). She proceeded to get more erratic and scream at the other clients and passerby’s for 10 mins before she finally got in her car and left. After reviewing the vet bill, we noticed that the bill was not for the Doxiepoo *** that I groomed, but for *** the chihuahua that was only in the shop for 5 mins for a simple toenail trim. No equipment touched this dog’s skin, he never had a bath. Just toenail clippers on his nails. We had the bill reviewed and one of the medications administered was typically given for Urinary tract infections, another that is typically given for a respiratory infection. There was blood work done and an emergency visit charge. Bacterial skin infections are usually brought on by other underlaying health issues such as allergies, hormonal disorders or other internal issues. The vet did not give any shampoo that is usually given for skin infections or any sort of topical crème. After reviewing the bill and knowing it wasn’t even for the dog that was groomed at the salon, we concluded we were not liable. Ms. was told we were not going to be covering her bill since we found her to be untruthful about the whole situation and found the medications administered were not for a skin infection. Like every client that comes into the shop she filled out a client info card/ Pet release. She did not give a valid address. It also clearly states “The Stone Dog Grooming Salon is not responsible for the injury or death of this pet due to excessive matted hair, old age problems, health conditions or unruly behavior. “We have a very safe and clean shop; I wear full PPE while grooming due to COVID and sanitize my equipment between each groom. On Thursday August 13Th Ms. contacted my cell phone and left a message for me to please call her back. I called her back within 5 mins. The conversation started off fine, I told her once again that there is no way a toenail trim would cause a skin infection I told her I was sorry for her dogs unfortunate condition, I tried to inform her that dogs need to be groomed properly by a professional every 4-6 weeks to help them stay healthy. I questioned her on why she had lied about which dog she claimed had a skin infection, and now she claimed that *** (the toenail trim) had cuts on his face, 4 and half weeks after his toenail trim. She got very agitated and I ended the conversation. I sent her a text message hoping she would understand what I was trying to say, instead she proceeded to attack my character, belittle me and threaten me (I have the documents). Ms. has not been truthful about anything from the get go starting with the date she came into the shop, she did not leave a valid address, she was untruthful about which dog the vet bill was for, she was untruthful about the dog’s health conditions. She has posted reviews on the salons page that have pictures of a different dog than the chihuahua that the vet bill was floor and slandered my name since we informed her, we were not liable for her vet bill.
