Review: I purchased two new front tires on 6-20-13 from Schierl Tire @ Service, upon purchase I was informerd of their warrenty and told I had no choice but to purchase the warrenty that covered each tire at 25.00 per tire. My van was new to me and had no service problems before this date, and have proper buyers guide documentation proving this. Upon leaving Schierl Tire I began to have problems with the steering of my van. I brought my van along with my documented warrenty on 9-11-13 with a little over 4000 miles on tires that were already completely shot. I was informed that the warrenty was useless, though they agreed the tires were completly "alignment worn" and stated that had not done an alignment as they had previously told me they would not cover tires. They refused to refund any of the money, including the warrenty coverage that they would not honor. They provide me with a quote for two front tires, two new warrentys and a front tire rod, but they were willing to take twenty dollars off. I requested my tires be completly replaced as per their warrenty. They clearly do not follow what they inform or print out to their customers.Desired Settlement: I would like my two tires replaced as warrenty describes, and my front aligned as they previously stated. I would like them to hold up to their word and their written warrenty... if they are not going to hold up to warrentys they should not require consumers to purchase them.

Response:

I am responding in regard to complaint ID [redacted]. I had the opportunity

to talk with [redacted] when she was in the store and her husband on the

phone. A quick summary. She brought her 2002 Town and Country in on June 20th

for two tires. When we installed the tires, we noted that there was

movement in the steering part called a tie rod. This will allow the

tires in the front to move independently of each other and will cause

rapid tire wear because the alignment won't be accurate. We shared that

information and wrote a quote for the work. They declined. When I spoke

with [redacted] last week, she said they had just bought the van and took

it back to who they bought it from and they told her that everything was

fine. Our installation clearly spells out what it covers. It does

include an alignment check but not an alignment. We would have been more

than happy to perform this service, but the tie rod ends would need to

be replaced first for it to be accurate.

When she returned with her van with the worn tires, it is

obvious they are worn from a mechanical condition on the vehicle. Our

Schierl Tire Promise covers tire repairs, rotation and balance for the

life of the tire, prorated coverage of the tire if it is damaged by

something in the road, and a 30 day ride guarantee. It doesn't cover

mechanical wear. The manufacturer's warranty excludes coverage for tires

with mechanical wear also. I have attached, in order, the original

invoice, the inspection sheet completed by the technician, the printout

of the services we recommended that were declined, and the price quote

we provided at the time for the suggested repairs.

When I spoke with her husband, and I apologize I don't remember

his name, we agreed that he was going to bring the van in the following Monday and we were going to inspect the van together. Sadly, he didn't show.

Our offer was to install two new tires for the price of the

tires less $20. We would not charge them any installation charges. We

did make it contingent that the suspension be repaired first. The repair

would not have to be done by us, but would need to be done first. Since

we followed every reasonable step to insure they were fully informed of

the van's needs, I felt this was fair. The question I asked them, and

still ask, is if someone else said the suspension was ok, why isn't it

their responsibility for the rapid wear of the tires? If I had said the

suspension was good and had done an alignment, I would do exactly as the

guest has asked. What I did do was inform them of an issue with their

vehicle that would cause this exact problem and they didn't believe me.

If you have a suggestion on some reasonable thing I can do to resolve

this issue, don't hesitate to suggest it.

Feel free to contact me any time after Sept 30th. I will be away from work next week. If time is of the essence, feel free to contact [redacted] at [redacted].

Sincerely,

Schierl Tire and Service

Do not get cookies from here! My grandma and I both decided to get a bag of three cookies. She got sugar cookies and I got strawberry shortcake cookies. My grandma ate one cookie and could tell it was not fully baked. She ended getting a bad stomach ache and diarrhea. Later that night, I decided to try my cookies. They tasted baked to me, but after while I soon got sick too and have diarrhea. Their cookies are not baked right and will most likely make you sick to your stomach.
