The Stroke of Beauty Training Academy Reviews (%countItem)

Hello,

I am seeking an immediate refund from the owner of The Stroke of Beauty as she has misrepresented herself, her company and the equipment she provides with her tuition of $2750 which I paid for on July 31, 2019.

I wanted to take a plasma fibroblast class so I did my research and found a class that was local, had no bad reviews on yelp or on your Revdex.com site. She also had a very extensive, well written and informative website. I met with her on July 31st at her very small salon room which wasn't what I expected, but her partner convinced me that it was the best thing that would ever happen to me so I gave her my credit card and attended the 3 day class and got my certificate of completion with 2 other people.

Both on her website and many times in person she said she is available at any time to help after graduation with clients and more training. That never happened no matter how many times I called, texted or emailed to tried to arrange appointments with her. If I want to get an answer I had to show up in person and confront her.

She claims that she provides the best plasma fibroblast pen out there, but in reality she provides one that comes from China that is very inexpensive and very dangerous. Of the 6 clients that I have been able to work on 4 had absolutely no results with the junk pen she provided and 2 had scarring. One very severely.

Her website is full of claims that are simply not true such as her company is world wide while she really only has 2 sites. I can not list them all here.

After trying for over 3 months to work with her and with the junk equipment I called other salons providing this type of service only to find out that many of their clients come to them after receiving faulty procedures from her students. Her training is not adequate. Most of what she teaches can be learned from the internet in less than an hour, not the 16 hours of intense instruction that she promises.

The Stroke of Beauty Training Academy Response • Nov 18, 2019

To whom it concerns, First is there a place to submit evidence? Photos, documents etc... I sat down to respond to this complaint and honestly could not find the words. All I could think of was that I did NOT want to criticize Ms. or make her feel bad about herself after reading my words- no amount of money is worth tearing down another woman. I read her complaint with honest eyes and found some truth in her words, but mostly uneducated statements and the missing of vital information that directly pertains to this complaint. Ms. request for a full refund is simply not the fair resolution. 1. Class Disruption: Day 1: Before the 'after class availability' or 'faulty device' or 'call to other local salon' Claims. Ms. began disrupting class by loudly counting the items in the kit provided as part of the course. She had the list online and began naming off items. This is DURING a lecture. Response ***: I order kit items from many sources, sometimes a certain item is out of stock or discontinued, when that happens I find a replacement of equal or higher value. In every situation that this occurs I always get the best possible replacement even if the price is not comparable. THIS is clearly stated on our webpage and in the student contract signed by the student and myself the first day of class. This disruption and minor obnoxious behavior was a distraction for not only myself, but the other students. I continued with the course lesson, but Ms. is no longer paying attention, and now the other students start to count their items as well. I am not a high school teacher, these are adults and I am not going to play disciplinarian, so I stopped that portion of the lecture and gave the class a break. After break, one of the students stopped me in the hallway and told me that they were uncomfortable after having gone to lunch and didn't want me to take it personal. Model Day: The 3rd day of the Plasma Fibroblast Course is the day the students perform guided instructor procedures. The instructor sits face to face with the student and client, similar to a drivers ed instructor. Ms. was very reluctant to attempt her first procedure, but after a group pep talk, she participated and did very well. Plasma Tech ***: Ms. is an Independent Contractor Partner of The Stroke Of Beauty. Ms. comes in per my request to assist during the Plasma classes and she also sees Plasma clients daily. But she is not the lead training instructor. During the entire class Ms. made it known about the MANY clients she had waiting for appointments with her, and how she was going to book them as soon as possible. Instructor UN-availability claim: After all of our courses we offer continued one on one training with the instructor. I remember what it was like when I first started and I want my girls to feel completely ready when they go out on their own. At some point during the class, our assistant *** and *** began planning to work together and get these clients in as fast a possible. After the class *** and *** stayed in daily contact which I was unaware of for sometime. Since *** was in such contact with ***, and had made it clear she wanted to work with her ONLY, I, once again, let an adult person do as they please. Ms. had planned to see the gang of clients at The Stroke Of Beauty. This is another after class service I provide that NO other training school does. I know that its rough for the girls right after graduation so I let them bring their own clients and only charge them per treatment $45. not a weekly or monthly lease. As this unfolds I discover that *** is too nervous to do any of the procedures herself, which is to be expected. But still trying to get these unsuspecting clients in as soon as possible. I happen to be leaving town around this time and so she book appts then. *** begins texting/calling me about the days she can have MY salon to herself for clients. I am uneasy about the entire situation, and I do not understand the details. Now *** is relaying messages to and from *** and I and I decide since this was done without my approval in the first place, that I am no longer communicating. I leave town, they do some rushed appts, charge way too much, get money up front for work they had not performed yet, and what do you know... They get a complaint and a refund request. Now *** has paid *** to do the work and she wants *** to return the money so she can pay her client. I wash my hands of it. And now *** and *** are at serious odds. *** stops communicating with *** because she is now harassing her, and now *** begins trying to blame the device and her training and starts requesting one on one time with me. This is weeks from the training course end. At first as a ***ng person, I want to work with *** because I want her to be successful and get all she needs, but now it is a conflict of interest. This is the first I have heard about *** additional clients poor results other than the first one I mentioned above, and HAVE NOT been shown any after pictures of 'so called' poor results. NOW here we are. Clients can feel nervous rushed energy coming from an unprepared practitioner, even if she is just in the room, they booked with her, and when she wasn't the one actually doing the procedure, that alone opens the door for doubt. BTW, I was never asked to be there during these appointments or consulted. THE DEVICES: If Ms. had done her research, or been in this business for a decade, then she would know that ALL Plasma Fibroblast Devices come from China, Hong Kong, Germany and many other countries. NONE ARE FDA Approved. Each device casing has many different versions, but have VERY different Operating Functions. Basically the insides are completely different, and therefor 5 devices that look exactly alike will range in price from $45 each to $1000+. These look exactly the same side by side. The device I chose is from a manufacturer that has been investigated and has proven to produce the best quality devices. I never stop researching and collecting information about the latest and BEST devices for our industry. NOTE: The FDA has never even heard of Plasma Fibroblast, nor has the Medical Board, nor does the Board of Cosmetology, Esthetics, or environmental Health cover this treatment. As of now it is deemed a personal service and is unregulated. World Wide: I am in constant contact with several overseas businesses. I do training with and for them, work and consult with them, and edit device manuals in for better translation into English. I leave for Sweden in January. Ms. assumptions are not fact based. THIS STATEMENT IS COMPLETELY FALSE. "After trying for over 3 months to work with her and with the junk equipment I called other salons providing this type of service only to find out that many of their clients come to them after receiving faulty procedures from her students." Response ***: IT WOULD BE no surprise IF, that is IF... another trainer did say their training is better, they want you as a student, or they want to discredit other competition salons offering the Plasma procedure. I am on contact with every Plasma client that has walked through our doors and had any treatment, NONE have gone elsewhere to 'FIX' our results. My offer to Ms.: I recently added a second device included with the course. It is new so it was not available months ago. I however, DO still include the original device as well. The two work great together. 1 Beierplasm k85 Plasma Fibroblast Pen $550 1 Package of 100 Needles $150 1 replacement Maglev Plasma Device $450 1 package of 50 Maglev Needles $50 1 copy of My custom Plasma mapping and procedure manual out Dec 1st Tuition Refund $1000 to be paid within 30 days of agreement. Signed/notarized document upon closure. This is an extremely generous offer. I am only willing to consider a dollar amount refund because I feel like Ms. does not possess the skill necessary to perform Plasma Fibroblast Treatment, although directly in part to her own actions. Thank you Apology for the length. *** Pietromonaco The Stroke Of Beauty Training Academy Owner/Master Training Instructor & Artist

Customer Response • Nov 27, 2019

I am rejecting this response because:
On November 25, 2019 I read ***, aka the owner of The Stroke of Beauty at *** statement and the following is my rebuttal.

I am a 60 year old 5’1” Hispanic senior citizen with bad hips who works 3 part time minimum wage jobs on my feet for 12 hour days and I am homeless. I live out of my car and stay on family member’s couches to get by. This has been my situation for many years. I don’t tell anyone this because it’s embarrassing.

In July of this year I came across plasma fibroblast information and did extensive research. I decided I wanted to better my life and start a business in this new industry that I had never been a part of before. I hoped to find a local company offering classes as I was not able to travel to another city for financial reasons.

I found The Stroke of Beauty here in Roseville and called to ask about classes. From the very first call I felt uneasy, but since I thought she was the only company in town offering this class I pressed on. I borrowed $3500 on a credit card. I made arrangements to meet with *** face to face instead of signing up for the class on her website because I felt something was not quite right. The first appointment day she blew me off and asked if we could meet the next day. The next day she blew me off and asked if we could meet yet again the next day. On the third appointment date we finally did meet in her small little salon room. I wanted to turn around and walk out because I just knew in my gut that this was not going to be what her website said it was. The only reason I did not change my mind and leave is that her partner from the L.A. area was there and convinced me that this was the right thing to do. I gave *** my credit card and paid the $2750 for the class.

So now I’m going to fast forward to today. It’s been 113 days since I took the class and received my certificate from her. 113 days of stress and disappointment. 113 days of waking up on someone else’s couch when I thought I would be in a home of my own by now. 113 days including today as I read 5 pages of absolute fiction from a person who says she’s the only adult in this situation but doesn’t want me to feel bad about myself. Believe me, I don’t. She cares so much about me that she filled 5 pages of everything that is wrong about me in her opinion and absolutely nothing about anything she did wrong. Pointing fingers or “deflecting” is not an adult way to handle a conflict and it makes you look guilty and small.

I am not going to type out a rebuttal to every point she tried so hard to make because I could fill 10 pages with fact not the bizarre inconsequential ramblings that she presented here.

I am going to comment on her first point because I found it so amusing. First off this is not a huge class. There were only four of us total in the room. Me, another student, *** as the instructor and her side kick ***. This is supposed to be a hands on, involved, interaction type of class, not a “lecture” type class. The incident that I believe she is referring to is when we were going through the bag that was provided with supplies and other items. Mrs. had an absolute melt down when she saw that she got a tiger print head wrap instead of the pink one that was in my bag and went on about how she like pink better so to get her to be quiet I gave her mine because I didn’t care either way. If *** was upset that her “lecture” was “disrupted” maybe she should blame the person that actually did the disruption in the first place.

I let several people read this and they all had to laugh knowing me. I am painfully shy and quiet. In a new situation I never talk much unless pressed or asked a question. I am pretty sure I didn’t say much until day three and yes, I was nervous on day 3 about drilling holes in someone’s face I had never met before and I believe I did say as much. As to being loud and obnoxious *** must be talking about herself. If a stranger met the both of us they would pick her out as the loud, obnoxious one every time.

I have no idea what this story of yours has to do with the lack of quality “lecturing” on your part except to make me look bad and feel bad.

The part about me ONLY wanting to work with *** in 100% not true. I eventually had no other choice but to work with the only person who would actually return my calls and offer to help me get started on my first clients after over 8 weeks of calling, begging, texting, messaging YOU. I finally gave up. *** by this time is acting like the expert and YOUR assistant and volunteered to be the go between and the ONLY time the room was available to use at all was when you were on vacation.

As far as over pricing the clients I actually was able to see during that ONE week *** and YOU came up with the pricing for doing my client *** on the phone while *** and I sat talking in the salon room. After *** was horribly scarred by *** and had paid for additional work in ADVANCE she did not want to continue with the procedures she had NOT gotten and I didn’t blame her. I called *** to let her know and we agreed on what we should return to Monica. Once I asked *** for her half of that amount back *** stop calling me back. So in effect *** stoled that amount of money from Monica. After calling *** and leaving many messages I paid *** back my half and gave *** contact information and left it to *** to go after ***. I have no idea what happened after that. I did not HARRASS ***. I asked her to do the right thing just like I am asking you to do the right thing by me and your other students who are in the same position as I am and you know who they are.

The rest I am not going to even dignify with a rebuttal. It would be a huge waste of my time. I will in the future if I have to but I only have 5 days to get this in and with working 12 hour days I don’t have that kind of time and it’s a holiday week.

I want to skip to the offer of which I am declining. She says she is offering me a Beierplasm K85 Plasma Fibroblast Pen which she is now saying is valued at $550, when in fact just a few weeks ago she told me that I could buy one from her for $330. She also states that she is offering me a “replacement” Maglev Plasma device with a value of $450. My complaint states that she originally gave us a fake Maglev that probably only cost her $20. Is she going to replace it with another $20 fake? A copy of her manual? I don’t want it. And I want to know why I have to wait 30 days for a refund of $1,000. I have already waited 113 days for her to follow through on any one thing she promises verbally, in writing and on her website and never does. I have 113 days of lost potential revenue. 113 days of interest on $3,500. 113 days of still being homeless. I can not afford to wait another day, let alone 30. This has been a horrible experience for me that I do not wish on anyone else.

I want this to be over. I don’t want her to keep dragging this out forever. She is not honest, she doesn’t ever follow through with anything she says, I don’t trust her and she threatens me with her lawyer and *** as her witness. *** who has also lied straight to my face on many occasions.

I want her to repay me the full $2750. Immediately, not in 30 days, and let me go so that I can take a class from individuals with actual integrity and move on with my life. She is in effect holding me hostage. I believe she thinks she can just take advantage of me because of my age and my situation.

I am not the only person she has done this to. I have given all this information to others and encouraged them to file a claim with the Revdex.com as well, but that is up to them and will not drag them into this complaint.
