I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 12193340.  I contacted the business by phone on Wednesday, July 21st, and we received a refund for the amount in question on the 28th.  Mr. [redacted] explained that he had an internal control problem with an employee which had made it difficult for him to see the duplicate payment. I am satisfied with the resolution.

I was contacted by email in mid Febuary 2017 by a lady that said they paid twice for the same order, that was made back in April of 2016. She provided a copy of the store credit card receipt payment, in one persons name and a copy of what she stated was a check, made out to Mountain Fried...

Chicken, offered by a different company name then the credit card receipt, for the same amount as the credit card payment that was made on the original purchase date in 2016. I was not able to read any check processing and cancellation markings anywhere on the check copy other than the scribbled deposit only Mountain fried chicken in the endorsement area on the back of the check. I asked her if she could provide me with a better copy of the check that would show the cancellation criteria required to authenticate the processing of the check and the date processed. Keep in mind at this point, a year had gone by since this purchase was made. The lady that complained never did provide me with a clearer copy of the check. It was mailed to the Akron Drive location directly as addressed on the store's register receipt. The check was also dated almost two months after the original purchase date. I tried to find any orders for the company listed on the check, to no avale. We exchanged several emails, but she never provided a clear copy of the canceled check. I called her and left a message to call me and She finally called me directly and I was able to gain a better understanding of the circumstances, but still not being provided with a documented canceled copy, I offered to give her a future order credit in the amount of the original purchase, she declined and said "she would have accepted that in the first place, but due to my delay, she demands full payment of the second payment amount".  We are the victim here, due to their mistake of; instead of re-inbursement of the original credit card payment, to the card holder, the check issuer made the mistake of paying according to the receipt copy, with the Store name and location on the store receipt, even though it clearly shows it was paid by credit card of the compaintant. Subsequitly the check was deposited as normal daily sales, not duly noted on our deposit information of that business day.  As a good faith gesture, even without the proof the check was even canceled properly, we issued a refund, unfortunately not fast enough for this customer. What was someone else' error by the compaintant and their funding partners and their nearly one year later discovery, without providing canceled check documentation, we got the bad rap here.  We have been in business for over 30 years and this is the first time we have run into this kind of complaint situation.I certainly hope I conveyed the full extent of the circumstances.
