On August 15, you brought your SAAB to us for repairs and diagnosisYou specified that you’d like to have the transmission gear oil replaced since you had no record of it ever being replacedWe had given you an estimate over the phone for this a few days earlier.
There was some miscommunication as far as pricing goes due to the fact that the original part number that was used in the estimate, whereas the oil actually used had superseeded to a newer number and the price for this oil is higherObviously this should have been communicated to you at some point, but unfortunately none of us caught it that day and for this we appologize! But ***, please tell me why you didn’t bring this up when we gave you the invoice and the amount was higher than the estimate you had received earlier? This dispute could have been resolved right there in a matter of seconds!
When you called us a few hours later that same day to ask why the price was higher we incorrectly told you the tax was added onto the estimated price, and this was incorrect infoYou also wanted to know why we didn’t give call you to give you the choice to repair the axle seal at the same time, and there are several reasons for this
1. When initially dropping the car of for oil change, you made it clear to us that you where going to wait in the “area” and had to have the car back that same day so that you could drive it home
2. The first labor line on work order that you signed, states “transmission drain & fill”! Thus this was the first thing that our technician went to work onAs he was draining the transmission, he gave the vehicle a quick visual “courtesy” check and this is when he saw the axle seal leakThus, it was too late to repair in conjunction since fluid was already drained
3. The seal needed for the repair is currently not stocked by us and so would have to be ordered for that following week, so the same applies that we would not be able to perform the recommended repair that same day
4. Technician also found other leaks that, judging from our experience with SAAB’s, are much more important to repair in a timely matter! We also told you about these at that same time
5. The price of $was not “scammed” or a “rip off”, but rather a standard price for replacing gear oil on your model car with a manual transmission! Yes, we had originally quoted $for that same job and that should have been the price to you or at least have been communicated to you before hand
I will be happy to refund the difference between the quoted price and what we charge you and can send you a check if you’d like
You also mention that another shop (S&T), quoted you $for that same repairI’d be willing to do the repair for that same price if you’d be willing to give us another chance!
