The Tavern at the Beach Reviews (2)

I was collecting my things and getting organized in front of this business, and they slammed all their windows and the bouncers went inside. I have been there many times and have no idea why they are so rude.

Review: Security guard asked me and my friend to step outside of the bar after she took a drink out of her bag. It was an iced tea but after he smelt it he told the both of us that we were band from the bar. This happened after she got a little too affectionate with a friend and barely nudged into a table. When my friend touched the security guards arm and apologized, he said " don't touch me" and walked away. A few minutes later, I motioned for the security guard and his manager (later found out was named [redacted]) to come over so I could apologize and both of them ignored me. I went into the bar to apologize twice to the security guard and both times he walked away , disregarding my apology. later on, the same security guard went up to my friend and I and asked us both to step outside. I obliged, thinking that it had to do with the prior situation. When we got outside the guard asked to smell the iced tea bottle ( that had no alcohol) and when I interjected , he told me that he wasn't speaking to me. After that he band us both from the bar, saying that she had had enough to drink, and embarrassed us both in front of our friends. Unfortunately, she called him a bad name and snapped his picture, I did not.

About an hour later, I went back to the bar alone to speak to the manager and spoke with the manager [redacted]. He said that he was present for ALL the altercations. I asked him if he saw me when I motioned for him and the security guard to come over after the little incident outside, he said yes but did not give a reason for not coming over. I asked him why we were kicked out and he said because my friend was too drunk, and that I was guilty by association. When I asked him if I was too drunk or even seemed too drunk to walk into his establishment (both now and then), he said no. [redacted] never gave me a good reason why I could not be there. I offered an apology on behalf of my friends and it was not accepted by him or his security guard and when I asked, he never even tried to apologize when I tried to explain the situation.

I feel like all of this could have been avoided on a very professional level. I have worked in the food and beverage service in Florida for many years and have never been kicked out of a bar in my life. The situation was not handled well and when I went back for an apology, [redacted] sided with his employee and told me that I was drunk at the time to remember what happened.
