Regards,
*** *** In response to what the tire shop has stated First, the tire shop states they put tires on my vehicle according to vehicle specifications Also that if I wanted a different tire it was something I could of picked? So I supplied pictures of those specifications. Tire shop then responds with they placed the tires on my vehicle because it was to my benefit! Along with explanation of the weight limit they put on Giving me 1,lbs extra to place on the tires Now they explain but not when they were putting the tires on. My vehicle is a dodge ram van B2500, 3/ton, passenger, roof rack, tow hitch If I put passengers on board at lbs each it's overloaded according to the tire shop This does not include anything being loaded with them Yes the tire shop put my life and possibly others at risk by not explaining and placing tires on that don't fit the purpose of my vehicle. The tire shop makes reference to Firestone's quote and seems to emphasize the (P) saying it is the same tire that they placed on my vehicle However, the tire shop isn't seeing or does not know what the (XL) is The (XL) is for extra load being extra plys Giving the tires more weight allowance Yes it is still a (P) passenger tire.I thought being the tire shop only sold tires that they would know the needs of my vehicle and it's purpose Hard lesson for me to learn all I have about tires, since the blow out Also other people need to know how the tire shop in portage operates That same day I took my vehicle to a mechanic for inspection and I trusted they did their job properly as well Just as when I go to a dr I trust they will treat me properly. Thanks so much for the help Sorry for not knowing what to do. *** ***

Re: *** ***ID:***Dear Ms ***Ms***, again thanks for allowing us the opportunity to help this situation be resolved and to help Ms *** understand how the numbers and the load index of the tires are not at fault for the misfortune of her ruined tireTo begin to figure the load index of the tires you must look at all four tires not just one, the max load for each of the tires that we installed is 2039lbs per tire (as shown in the picture supplied by Ms ***)So if you multiply the by the tires you get 8156lbs, which is greater than the load of that Ms *** is showing that her vehicle calls forAs long as Ms *** did not over load the vehicle Ms *** has 1356lbs extra to place onto the four tires. As to address the fact that Ms ***’s vehicle is calling for a P225/75Rand there was a P235/75Rinstalled on the vehicle, this was done for her benefitThe load index of the P225/75Ris 1874lbs per tireThis shows that the max index for the vehicle would be 7496lbs (1874*4)While this is still greater than the 6800lbs that the vehicle calls for but is still less than the 8156lbs max of the tires that were installedMs *** is stating that the wrong tire size and ply were placed on her vehicle but as shown on her picture of vehicle specs it is calling for a smaller size and still a standard load tire (which is indicated by the P prior to the numbers).Ms*** is stating that her main concern is that the “wrong size and ply” tire are on her vehicle yet she is showing that *** (according to her original complaint and pictures) is going to place the same size tire on her vehicle that was placed on at our locationShe is repeating the same action that is being labeled wrong by Ms ***None of the newcomplaints by Ms *** helps to show is the tire was compromised by wear and drivingWe tried to work with her the first time she came in and she has called since stating there will be legal actionAt every attempt Ms *** has stated that we did wrong but she in wanting *** to do the same wrong that we didI hope that this information helps everyone understand more about the situation at hand. Thanks again for your time and energy for this situation.Sincerely,The Tire Shop, Inc

The tire shop in portage put the wrong size tires on my van.  Sending documentation from Firestone.  So compensation needs to be for all 4 tires.  As well as compensation for the turnpike changing of a tire after blow out.  Been told very dangerous driving with these tires....

Obviously with one blow out with less then 2000 miles.   Having a hard time sending documents.

Re: [redacted]ID:[redacted]Dear Ms [redacted],Thank you for the opportunity to explain our side of this dispute. Ms. [redacted] came into the business on approximately April 30,2016 with a complaint that her tire just blew up on the PA turnpike. Mr. R[redacted] who is part owner of the company, advised her that we needed to look at the tires to make sure that the remaining tires were in good shape and that there was nothing else (like odd wearing) visibly wrong. Mr R[redacted] informed Ms [redacted] that everything else visibly looked the way that it should and that we would help her out and put a new tire on her vehicle for the cost of the tire. Tire manufacturers have a three year workmanship and material warranty but this does not cover the tire being run flat as Ms [redacted] did. It is the consumers responsibility to properly maintain the product. The visible evidence of this tire being compromised is the inside liner being eaten away by the wheel and the weight of the vehicle. When Ms [redacted] was informed that there was no free replacement for a run flat tire she said there was nothing else we could do for her. We then in turn pulled her vehicle outside the bay area and left her alone as she requested. We left the conversation informing her that we would sell her a tire for cost and install it for free. She insisted that wasn’t what she wanted, we needed to just give her a tire. To briefly address the complaint that Ms. [redacted] feels that the “wrong size tire” was placed on her vehicle she needs to look at the vehicle specifications. This is the size tire that the manufacturer specifically calls for. The option to buy a tire that would be different from the manufacturer specification would have been an option that she could have picked. The invoice that Ms. [redacted] has provided has a purchase date of Jan 9, 2016. There is no way to show if there was an impact to the tire that could have caused the “blow out.” There are numerous ways that this tire could be compromised after the installation: from not maintaining proper air pressure, an impact into a curb or pothole, even a nail, screw of other foreign object penetrating the tire and air leaking out that way. With over four months of wear on this product if it was a manufacturing problem it would have shown itself prior to this in the time frame that was given. While we do not like this to happen to anyone, there is not a lot that can be done without the consumer maintaining their purchase. Thanks again for your time and energy for this situation.Sincerely,The Tire Shop, Inc.

Review: Bought 4 new tires at the tire shop 1-9-16. Had a blow out on the turnpike by Gettysburg exit 4-22-16 went to the tire shop on 4-30-16. To have them compensate me. All they wanted to do was sale me another tire. The tires bought were 1 1/2 years old by the code on tires. Tires have less then 2000 miles on them.Desired Settlement: Money compensation

Review: I had an apt at 930am to get 4 new tires and an alignment down. Now Keep in mind I have been getting my tires here since I owned a car. I walk in 5 minutes late. [redacted] the part owner starting screaming at me saying you are late I can't get you in now if you were here on time I would of put your car in and not the car that is in there now. She yelled in the garage saying we can't take her now and the other owner [redacted] said we can fit her in. [redacted] was screaming at the top of her lungs at me with the waiting room full. I did not say a word and sat down and waited. Then when I was to check out she said I know your Mom and Dad and that is why you are crazy because your family is crazy. Then she said to [redacted] the worker there saying you know her family he said I know her mom. I told him she has red hair. [redacted] said yes I know he said you know where redheads come from? I said no he said from HELL. I am the customer I do not need to be screamed at and have my family talked about especially in a full waiting room. I do not need to take that verbal abuse. I am the customer. I will never go back there againDesired Settlement: I just want this posted under The Tire Shop business so future customers see this. That they have no customer service at all.

(To Whom It May Concern,

At The Tire Shop, Inc. we make appointment for alignments, since they take approximately one hour to complete, and we do tires on a first come first serve basis. Ms. [redacted] can in and I ([redacted]) told said to her that she was let to her appointment and that we may not be able to complete the alignment. I then went out into the bay and stopped the men from pulling the tires off of the car that had gotten pulled in in her absence. As luck would have it I caught the guys before the tires were off and we were able to pull Ms [redacted]’s car in and onto the alignment machine without any other issues. As for the yelling that Ms [redacted] is referring to, if you have ever walked into the bay of a tire shop the air guns are quite loud and I was trying to stop the men from removing the tires from the car that would have been in her way, if I would have not been able to stop them then the alignment would not have gotten done since there was another one scheduled and she was late for her appointment. I was trying to rectify her tardiness and make it so that she was not inconvenienced with having to reschedule the appointment. As for the tone of my voice after years of working in the shop and having to yell over the different machines my voice is loud and it does carry because it is necessary, since this young lady has been coming to the shop for year I thought that she realized this prior to this date and time.

As I stated I have know her parents for the majority of our lives and every time one of the family comes in I always ask as to their well being, the referral to them being "crazy" was stated that they are always so "crazy happy" and it was worded saying that it must have been great growing up with parents that are always that crazy happy. I would NEVER insult these people

since I feel that they are two of the happiest, nicest people that you would ever want to meet.

As Ms. [redacted] stated she has been coming into the shop for as long as she has owned a car then she must have met my daughter [redacted] who has red hair herself. [redacted] is my son in law married to [redacted] (the redhead) and the comment that was made by him was actually about "redheads are crazy" joking with her. There was never anything mean said to this woman about being late or her parents.

Over the years we have thrown in little favors such as disposal of old tires, or money taken off of products, even a rotation or a patch done for free, even on this day had a different customer come in late for an appointment then it probably would not have been done. These things are taken care of because of being the daughter of a set of friends. Under the circumstances we feel that it would be best if she goes to a place were they don’t know her, and she can be considered a customer instead of our friends daughter. This way there are no more misunderstandings with Ms. [redacted].

Sincerely,

The Tire Shop, Inc.
