Re: [redacted] ID: [redacted] Dear Ms [redacted] ,Thank you for the opportunity to explain our side of this disputeMs [redacted] came into the business on approximately April 30,with a complaint that her tire just blew up on the PA turnpikeMrR [redacted] who is part owner of the company, advised her that we needed to look at the tires to make sure that the remaining tires were in good shape and that there was nothing else (like odd wearing) visibly wrongMr R [redacted] informed Ms [redacted] that everything else visibly looked the way that it should and that we would help her out and put a new tire on her vehicle for the cost of the tireTire manufacturers have a three year workmanship and material warranty but this does not cover the tire being run flat as Ms [redacted] didIt is the consumers responsibility to properly maintain the productThe visible evidence of this tire being compromised is the inside liner being eaten away by the wheel and the weight of the vehicle. When Ms [redacted] was informed that there was no free replacement for a run flat tire she said there was nothing else we could do for herWe then in turn pulled her vehicle outside the bay area and left her alone as she requestedWe left the conversation informing her that we would sell her a tire for cost and install it for freeShe insisted that wasn’t what she wanted, we needed to just give her a tireTo briefly address the complaint that Ms [redacted] feels that the “wrong size tire” was placed on her vehicle she needs to look at the vehicle specificationsThis is the size tire that the manufacturer specifically calls forThe option to buy a tire that would be different from the manufacturer specification would have been an option that she could have picked. The invoice that Ms [redacted] has provided has a purchase date of Jan 9, There is no way to show if there was an impact to the tire that could have caused the “blow out.” There are numerous ways that this tire could be compromised after the installation: from not maintaining proper air pressure, an impact into a curb or pothole, even a nail, screw of other foreign object penetrating the tire and air leaking out that wayWith over four months of wear on this product if it was a manufacturing problem it would have shown itself prior to this in the time frame that was givenWhile we do not like this to happen to anyone, there is not a lot that can be done without the consumer maintaining their purchase. Thanks again for your time and energy for this situation.Sincerely,The Tire Shop, Inc

Review: The owner of the shop, [redacted], is refusing to issue a refund or work on my car again. I first went to him to get the wheel bearing changed on my car in august 2015 and he said the pads needed to be changed too. So I got all of that done and now 7 months later I am having issues with my car again. Not to mention that after 3 weeks of him changing my brake pads, I had to take it back in because the pads were making a lot of noise. My boyfriend went into his shop on 3/21(I was at work) and told him that the wheel bearing is busted and that the car cannot be driven until that is fixed. He is refusing to fix it because the cover is missing (it was only down to 2 shreds of metal because of the wheel bearing problem). He is claiming that the only way the cover is missing is if the car was in an accident and is now refusing to do any work on the car or refund my money so I can go somewhere else.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund because getting my car fixed by someone who knows what they're doing is going to cost me more than $500.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: The part in question is not the brake rotor. The part that failed was the wheel bearing. Two weeks after the part was SUPPOSEDLY replaced, the noise started again. This is what would happen if someone were to repack new grease in an old, worn out wheel bearing, or if the bearing was pressed on incorrectly. Immediately after the business owner insisted that the problem was the brake rotors, I had them changed elsewhere because my boyfriend insisted that the rotors were not the problem and that the shop owner in question was trying to scam me into paying for unnecessary services. After the rotors were changed, the noise persisted and became worse over time. Wanting a second opinion, I took the vehicle to [redacted]. They told me that the wheel bearing was completely destroyed and that the wheel was about to fall off the car. They urged me not to drive the car from the shop, but being poor and unable to afford a tow truck and having already spent over $350 to get the wheel bearing changed at the shop in which this claim is against, I had no choice but to drive the car to my cousins house, because it was close by and he has a small home mechanic shop in his garage. After removing the front knuckle from the car, he again confirmed that the wheel bearing was completely destroyed. My boyfriend took only the part to the shop because the vehicle was unsafe to drive to the shop and I didn't feel like dying in a car accident. My boyfriend also provided pictures of the car with the wheel and knuckle off to prove it was from my car. The owner immediately began accusing my boyfriend of trying to defraud him. My boyfriend did call him a pk (rightfully so), but there was only one customer on the shop premises and she was outside the building.

Review: On September 23, 2013 at approximately 5:00pm, I arrived at The Tire Dealer to look at tires and wheels. I originally asked about 18" wheels which was currently on my car and was told by the owner/manager (not sure of title) that 20" wheels would fit my car. The owner/manager had one of the service workers bring a couple of different tire combinations out to check the fit of the wheel/tire combination. They found a combination which they me would fit with no problems. I specifically asked them if the tires would be too big and rub against the body of the car when carrying passengers. They again assured me that would not happen. After receiving their assurance, I decided to buy the wheel/tire combination. As they were getting ready to install the tires, they realized they did not have the correct tires for the front so they installed two temporary tires on the front and ordered the permanent tires which would be delivered the next day. On the morning of September 27, 2013, I had both my sons in the car, 14 and 12 years old respectively. My 14 year old sat in the front seat and my 12 year old sat in the rear. As I drove them to school, I noticed that whenever there was a bump or dip in the road, the rear tires would rub against the wheel well of the car. I called The Tire Dealer and explained that the rear tires were rubbing against the wheel well. I told the worker that I was coming in after work. When I arrived, I explained what was happening, and the worker even noticed marks on the tire from where it was rubbing against the metal on the car's wheel well (dangerous). He looked under the car and then stated that he did not know what to do. I told him that I had explicitly asked about this issue and he said that I would have to wait until Monday when they could figure something out. I told him that I needed to travel this weekend and so they took the new tires/wheels off and reinstalled my old wheels. They have the new wheels and my $980.00.

Product_Or_Service: Tire and Custome Wheel Combination

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

I would like a refund or a NEW replacement set of comparable wheels and tires in 18" size combination. I am not sure how much diligence they will exercise in working with me, but if I am not completely satisfied that the wheels/tires fit properly and are safely installed, then I want a full refund. If The Tire Dealer works with me in good faith (including compensation for the days that I did not have a new set of usable wheels and tires, while they had my /$980.00), I will rescind this claim.
