The Travel Authority Reviews (%countItem)

A trip was booked through The Travel Authority on a ***. When *** canceled the trip due to Covid, they contacted the travel agency to contact the customer to ask if they wanted a refund or a voucher. The Travel Authority emailed the offer but never followed up by phone or letter. The Travel Authority took the voucher offer for the customer with out verbally consulting with the client. They offered the client the possibility of retrieving the cash value only if they are able to sell a trip of the same value. The Voucher is valued at over $30,000 and expires in two years when the client is 89 years old. The client would his money back. He wrote the check to the travel authority and they should return the money to him. They did not do enough to contact the client and they are not giving an immediate cash solution.

Dear Ms. Sherman,In response to the “recap” of your letter dated September 4, 2020, this is the only contact attempt we have received from you or the Revdex.com regarding the *** complaint. Mr. and Mrs. were contacted by *** Lines directly on May 30, 2020 to a personal email address of ***@hotmail.com. The email sent by *** outlined the suspension of *** operations through August 31, 2020. The two options offered to the ***’s in this email were a full refund or Future *** Credit of 125% of the amount paid. The email clearly stated the deadline for requesting a refund was June 12, 2020. Our agency received this same letter via email on May 30, 2020. On June 8, 2020, The Travel Authority followed up with the client via email to see if a decision had been made regarding refund or Future *** Credit. The Travel Authority did not accept or intentionally select the Future *** Credit from *** on the customer’s behalf as stated in the complaint letter. *** issued the Future *** Credit because the client did not respond by the established deadline in the email correspondence.*** has all funds paid towards this booking by the ***’s. Because the client failed to respond by the deadline, *** has denied a refund. As a gesture of goodwill, The Travel Authority offered a refund to the ***’s if, and when, we are able to use the credit towards another client. All of the above was discussed with Mr. on July 16, 2020 by phone, and a letter outlining this gesture was mailed to his home on July 17, 2020. While we sympathize with Mr. and Mrs., The Travel Authority does not have any of the monies paid towards this booking. All funds were sent directly to ***s.The Travel Authority values all of our clients and works effortlessly to always provide the best outcome. This is unprecedented times in the travel industry, and the suppliers must follow the same protocol for all clients. With that being said, we made numerous requests to *** for a waiver and they were unable to make an exception.Sincerely,Gail WDirector of Retail Operations – OH and KY

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Our Father, ***
***, has traveled the world spending his hard earned money enjoying the
sights of Africa, Australia, Hawaii, and his native country Germany. Many
times he has relied on ***s to aid in his amazing vacations. Each
time he meticulously plans his adventure as thoroughly as opening another
location in his business. He researches, discusses with friends and his
travel agency,The Travel Authority. At eight-nine years old, he is
comfortable calling, coming in person, or mailing correspondence regarding his
travel plans. He has never contacted or been contacted by email by anyone
in this process. Enclosed is a summary
of relevant dates for your review. As you will see, the
phone and the US mail was used to make the reservations for his July ***
***. He was phoned, and sent a reminder of final payment to secure
his trip. Why was he not offered the same courtesy when you could not
fulfill it? He never authorized email as an acceptable form of
correspondence. In fact to this day, he has never seen the email
reportedly sent. You offered a long standing customer a short response
time, through a communication channel never before utilized, a credit to be
used in his nineties.. He is in a high risk category for Covid-19, and it
is doubtful he will be comfortable in using a credit for a vacation canceled
through no fault of his own. We have not had
acceptable responses with you or his travel agency The Travel Authority.
We will not have our Father discriminated against because of his age. We
will go to Social Media in all its glorious forms to make his case. We
expect a full refund. *** has a stellar reputation, why is he being
treated like this?

Regards

This matter has been resolved with *** Line. *** Line has agreed to refund Mr. *** in full after a third request from our travel agency with the latest being this week. Mr. was made aware of this refund today when I contacted him directly. This refund will come back to the travel agency and we will issue a check to our customer. This process will take 6-8 weeks from now and he was advised of this timeline on our call today.

Regards,
