The U P S Store # 5253

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:In response to comments and to set record straight, let me re-cap my experience with Merchant from the beginning. We have over 17 years history sending packages via UPS, our store of choice is in Tualatin, OR. I feel qualified to red flag inadequacies from Clerk from the time she took my shipping order and here’s why; Clerk immediately after setting box on scale, before asking anything slapped two white labels covering semi hazards markings on box sides, second, she failed to ask for my ID or box contents, she did however made a comment of "[redacted] contents in the box".Like I said before, this original box was packed by [redacted] cosmetics and I re-shipped it to Auburn, WA. I do this all the time, my feeling is that by Clerk by covering semi hazard markings on box sides, and NOT describing contents on mailing label, it made all the difference in handling box by carriers, please see attached copy of shipping label from UPS and mailing label from [redacted]. What happened is that the customer had sent a package of perfume and other goods through our store, and while in transit some of the bottles broke because of insufficient packaging. The bottles apparently began to leak, destroying the box they were in, so UPS destroyed the broken goods, repacked...

what was left, and sent the rest back to our store. UPS also had already processed the claim for the package, but it was denied because it wasn't packed up to UPS standards. I explained this to the gentleman,  who became upset and started threatening to take UPS to small claims court to try to regain his money for the perfume and the shipping; however, I explained, again, that no money will be coming back to him due to the claim being denied. I told him that had it been packaged by us here in the store there would have been more to be done, but as it wasn't he is sadly out of luck. I followed all of the procedures in place for situations like this, and have two other people who can back me up. I wasn't outright denying to get his money back, but rather explaining that there is nothing that can be done since he did not pack the bottles well enough.
