The customer came into the store with a package ready to be shippedI processed the package and sent to the address that the customer gave meThe customer stated that it was in the original box as it was shipped himI had no reason to
question the packing as packed by the customer therefore I shipped the package per the customers request as packedI told him it was insured for up to (as all UPS packages are insured) and he requested additional insurance coverage which I gave himThe package left our store as packed by the customer
Upon receipt of the package the customer noted that it was damaged and called the shipper who in turn calle our storeUPS went to pick up the laptop for inspection as is the regular procedure for damaged packagesUpon inspection UPS found that the packing was inadequate and therefore would not honor any damage claimThis is the general process that UPS follows.We do have a pack and ship guarantee however the customer did not require packing by UPS customer service repesentative as stated earlier he arrived with the package ready to be shippedUnfortunaely because UPS is not liable or responsible for loss or damage to any package from improper packing by a customer this request cannot be honored
