In this matter, we do not dispute the customer’s version of the events described. We have implemented a reasonable collection policy, which we followed in this matter. According to that collection policy, we send accounts to a collection agency when a customer fails to honor a payment...

agreement. The collection fee of 30% is a cost we must pay to the collection agency. By disclosing this cost upfront, we try to avoid unfair surprises. We will ask the collection agency to avoid reporting the matter to credit bureau as long the customer continues to make payments to the collection agency.

We have taken the following two steps to resolve this matter. First, we advised our collection agency to cease collection action and send the account back to us. Second, we have written off the then remaining balance. If the patient receives any additional bills, he should contact me, Dan...

Notwithstanding these steps, we deny any wrongdoing. We continue to believe that we provide the highest quality care in a cost effective manner. We recognize that health care billing is complicated. Health insurance makes it more complicated than many other consumer transactions. We try to provide accurate estimates and to communicate that we are providing estimates. We routinely refund overpayments that result from this process.
