Our church purchased equipment from Verdin to repair our bell tower (approximate cost $7,500). this included installation. Before installation, Verdin Co. told us that we should have an electrician available in case there were electrical repairs needed. We hired an electric company to assist in the repairs (***). We had the electric company contact Verdin so that they knew what they may need to do. Since there were many unknown repairs that may be needed, the company sent 2 electricians to do any needed repairs. Under Verdin's supervision the installation was completed. The electricians were supposed to perform all necessary work at the direction of Verdin Co., to ensure the bells worked properly. Three months later, the bells stopped working. We contacted Verdin and several weeks later they sent out a technician that speculated that one of the bells had a short in one of the new pieces of equipment. We were required to provide a lift (which we paid for) so that Verdin could perform the needed repair. After getting a company to bring a high lift, Verdin came to do the needed repair and determined that electrical repairs needed to be made. We don't understand why these repairs weren't made at the time of installation and now Verdin wants the church to pay to have another electric company to do the needed repairs. We feel the needed repairs fall on the responsibility of Verdin Co.

We have reviewed the complaint sent from Mr..
In the Terms & Conditions of the contract it states “Purchaser shall be responsible for paying any additional costs or expenses incurred....including equipment rental costs”. Additionally, it states “Purchaser will be responsible for providing all electrical wiring and conduit from a source designated by the Purchaser and in accordance with specifications provide by Verdin.”
Our technicians are not electricians, however, we agree that our technician should have instructed the electricians to look at ALL the wiring (junction box to top of tower) to determine if any repairs were needed. It appeared to us that the customer may have an issue that needed attention due to frayed wiring that we observed. Since there was a miscommunication in this area we are offering to pay for the 6 plus hours of the electrician’s time if we are provided a copy of the invoice. The clauses in our contract are written as such so that our customer has an opportunity to hire the type of contractor with the proper certifications and expertise to determine if the wiring is sufficient or needs replacement. If it needs replacement the costs could be extensive and this was outside the scope of the contract.
We wish for all of our customers to be happy. Hence, we are willing to reimburse for the original electrical contractor cost so that the customer may start over and allow an electrician to provide them with a professional report and recommendations. We would also recommend that the customer rent an appropriate sized boom lift to allow the contractor to reach the top of the tower for proper review. If the customer does this and coordinates with us to use the same lift rented by the customer we will then go over the entire installation again to make sure it is in working order and not charge for this visit. We have visited the facility twice since the original installation and have found that fuses were blown. We believe this is due to the older wiring that may need attention.
We have contacted the customer and we are in agreement with how we need to move forward to correct the situation.
