Review: On 7/*/2013, I took my 2 1/2 yr. old guinea pig to get checked for possible heat stroke. He was breathing deeply and irregular at a fast pace and had an x-ray of his lungs performed. They did put him in an oxygen cage. However, the veterinarian on call that night was unable to read the x-ray and assumed he might have pneumonia. She gave him a shot of antibiotics and gave more for home to be taken for 14 days at .5ml in a syringe. We went home with no official diagnosis because a radiologist needed to check and it would be 12-24 hours more to wait. We paid more than $530.00 and went home. That was by 1:30a.m., but he died at 5:00 a.m. without even having a chance to give him the other antibiotics. I was never told how grave he really was and was not even given the option to euthanize him and end any suffering he might have been experiencing. I would have accepted that but had to explain to my 12 year old that her pet no longer was on this earth. I am a disabled, MS patient living on Social Security and feel this is abusive. I understand if they actually did anything for him but they did not and never even emphasized how grave he was.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for this. I understand that people are to be paid for their services, however, I feel over $530.00 was just too much considering the outcome. Maybe $200.00 or $250.00 would be adequate but this is unacceptable and once again I could not stress how very abusive. I feel taken advantage of.
