Initial Business Response /* (**00, 5, 2017/06/05) */
Response to case [redacted]
On April 15th [redacted] contacted me and inquired if we had 100 chairs available on May 20, 2017. I informed her that we had only 55 available at that time. She then asked if we had any other chairs and I stated we did not...

have for that date. She responded "Ok I'll take them". She was subsequently sent a rental agreement and told her to contact me if she had any questions. She was also told that we accept cash, credit card and E transfer for booking deposits. As well we stated that all contracts are valid upon receiving the ** % booking deposit.
I followed up with [redacted] April 28th to see if she was still interested in booking with us.
I also sent her a notice of a sale on May 10th. [redacted] responded that she was sorry about her late response regarding the contract. She also decided not to rent the chairs and asked if we could provide 100 chair covers which we agreed to.
May 12th she asked where she could pick up sample chair covers.
May 15th she asked if she could pick up the sample covers in 30 minutes and we did provide her 2 kinds of chair covers samples . I gladly agreed. I indicated I would send another standard agreement. I inadvertently did not send another one. She also reduced the order to 80 covers which I gladly agreed to.
On May 19th she asked if I had the final price which I provided less her previous booking deposit of $[redacted]. She wanted to pick them up immediately and I said absolutely.
When [redacted] came to pick up the rentals she would not provide a credit card for the refundable security deposit required. I explained to her I sent her a standard agreement which included the requirements for renting with us ,early in our discussions. I also indicated she had an agreement provided when she picked up the 2 sample chair covers.
I also told her that the rentals could not be provided unless she provided the required security deposit as per contract. I offered her the opportunity to provide a $[redacted] cash deposit doing a one time exception and she refused. As [redacted] was leaving our location she threw, on the floor, our 2 samples previously provided. She threatened us about putting bad reviews on our [redacted] for our business, which she immediately did and not only that she also asked her family members to do the same thing which they did.
According to the law defamation is Illegal and [redacted] reviews are only accepted from direct clients. These actions could have legal repercussions as there has been 2 extra negative reviews as an attempt to hurt my business reputation. These extra reviews from her husband and mother need to be immediately removed or legal action maybe taken. I cannot allow these comments by [redacted], her mother and her husband go unchallenged.
I believe we did our very best to accommodate [redacted] even with her very tight time frames and changes she asked for. I simply cannot allow our products to be taken out the door without the appropriate deposits and risk not seeing our investments come back.
We spend a great deal of effort to provide excellent service and products. We have also won several awards and been praised by our clients.
It's unfortunate that [redacted] feels the need to file a complaint over $[redacted] and her failure to provide the required deposit. If she was willing to provide the deposit there would not have been any issue. We truly tried very hard to accommodate her.
I am also sending a copy of our contract and screen shots of postings that clearly attempt to undermine my business.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2017/06/06) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Firstly I did not sign nor look at the 1st agreement because 55 chairs was not enough, I was trying to contact other suppliers to find more chairs. So since that agreement was never finalized that has nothing to do with this.
Second I asked if she had 100 chair covers available and she said yes but that she did not know if they could fit the chairs I was looking for. Which she then said I could try them before I rented them. When I asked if I could pick up in 30 minutes she told me that, that was better for her. When I showed up to pick up the samples she then asked for a $** deposit by credit card. I informed her all I had was a debit/mastercard which she took, and only said it would be $[redacted] deposit for the chair covers, not saying that the debit/mastercard would not be suffice.
I took the samples and picked which one I wanted and told her I would like to rent 80 of them. She then told me that I could return the samples when I picked up the other ones and that she would send me the agreement. Later that day she again inquired about my venue and told me again she would send the rental agreement over.
The next day I received many phone calls saying that she does not have the colour I requested like she previously told me and I would have to take a different colour.
On May 19 I had to ask for the final price as I had not received the agreement or the final price.
When I came to pick up the chair covers I was told that I had to have credit card, which she already knew I didn't have, or pay $[redacted] cash deposit. I informed her all I had was $[redacted] cash plus the total payment. She then continued to blame me for not reading the previous agreement regarding the chairs. I told her I didn't read that one because I was waiting for the new agreement. After telling her that I guess I could not rent the chair covers then, she proceeded to get angry and would not let me have my $** deposit back for the samples which I did not throw on the floor I left on their boxes of the other chair covers because no one was upstairs to receive.
She continued to blame me for her losing money, because her chair covers had been ruined and she then had to go and rent new ones for me. I told her I didn't see how that was my fault, I brought her the $[redacted] deposit plus the rental money which she wouldn't accept. I brought the samples back unharmed, so I should receive the deposit back for that.
As for the negative reviews on [redacted], where I now see other people have given bad reviews for similar situations when dealing with [redacted], They have personal experience with this because it may have been me talking to you, but it was both mine and my husbands money to pay you, and we were all needing to rent the chair covers.
