"OK" to do the insulation with the knowledge that there was no estimate given due to the fact that the time needed was uncertain. At the time of pick-up, the customer was given a receipt, which she left behind. The customer came into our office area and took the keys off the desk to evaluate the work performed before paying. At that time, the customer appeared to be satisfied with the installation. The only issue she had was the price which include the installation of the power inverter, general check over and tax. The total bill came to $413.40. When paying the bill, the customer then stated that they were given an estimate by an electrician to install a power inverter for the cost of $50. The customer than began to question the honesty and integrity of our charges. One week later, the customer came into ask how they could jump start their food truck. Our employee was not comfortable telling them how to jump start the truck. He told them to have it towed in or if they did get it running, to bring it in, and that we would check it out. The customer made the decision to take it to a different shop. The next day we did speak with the customer, at which time, she became angry, accusing us of causing a failure in the truck and leaving the truck in a dangerous state of repair. She accused us of this because the tow truck driver said there was a wire hanging. The wire in question had been in that condition since they had purchased the truck, which was a utility service vehicle prior to being a food service truck. The "hanging wire" was of no danger and was not related to the power inverter installation. After speaking with the owner of the garage to which the truck was taken after it failed to start, we were informed that the alternator, which appeared to be original to the vehicle, had failed. They had continued to drive the food truck until both batteries failed. The mechanic was going to replace the two batteries and the alternator that failed from use and age.The information given to us form the customer was inconsistent with the information given to us by the mechanic who worked on the truck after we did. The Weeks Crew stands behind the work we perform. The failure of the alternator was from normal use and not something we could predict at the time of the installation of the power inverter. When we last spoke to the customer she became very angry. We said . . that we would talk with the other mechanic if he would call us, when he was available. The customer said that he was not available. At that point the customer got very irate and said her next phone call would be to the Revdex.com and their lawyer. It is our policy to remain professional and not to participate in a hostile conversation. The Weeks Crew took it upon ourselves to locate the mechanic and speak with him about the problems and the repairs that he had made. The Weeks Crew contacted other shops in the area to gauge the $315 that we charged to install the power inverter. After giving the information of the work we did, other garages said they would charge between $315 and $500 dollars (most stating more likely $500) to do the same work. We felt that our charges were fair and within the same range as other garages within our area.
