Reimbursement Issue regarding a Lift Chair purchased in January 2018
Due to two falls my husband experienced in December 2017 we contacted The Wheelchair Place, LLC in *** to rent a lift chair. A chair was delivered in the evening of the day I called. We were told that if we purchased one then the rental charge would be refunded. As soon as my husband was able we visited the store to pick out a chair that suited his build. No problems so far. I wrote two checks to the store; one for the rental, and later for the full price of the chair. We were told that they would file the *** reimbursement form for us once my husband's doctor filled out the paperwork. A week or so went by and the company called my husband and asked when they could be expected to receive payment for what he owed. They had already been paid, as a matter of fact both checks had cleared our bank account. Shortly after that incident the office girl was let go. We have no details of that occurrence. I have continued to call to check on our *** reimbursement. *** only reimburses for the lift mechanism and it is only a matter of approximately $200 but we've been waiting now for seven months. The company hired a new girl, her name is Dawn. She has been very accommodating, but she wasn't well-versed on the *** reimbursement issue at first. She has since learned and has done all in her power to help us. The last time I talked to her she said she had to send it to someone in Charlotte who looks things over for her and if everything looked okay she could mail it in. I called to speak to Dawn on Tuesday, July 25, 2018 and instead the owner answered. His name is Brandon. When I clarified whom I was speaking to and made sure I was speaking to the owner because they have two Brandon's at this location, I simply asked if anything had been heard about our *** reimbursement. I mentioned what I'd been told. He became surly and sarcastic. His tone was threatening to me. It went from being a simple call to check on the status of our reimbursement to a very angry exchange. Especially when he told me that they didn't have to do anything we could just quit the whole thing right then and there. I have been in this store and heard this person talking to other people on the phone. Tuesday I became the person on the phone. I have worked for businesses for over 50 years and I have never talked to anyone as he did to me. I would say that this business probably deals with a lot of senior citizens, elderly, and infirm. I will never buy anything else from this business but I would still like to receive our reimbursement and from what he told me he wasn't planning to help us. I don't like to be lied to or threatened. The next day I called the young lady back and thanked her for helping me and apologized for how ugly the call got. I explained that I only called to check with her to see if she'd heard anything. I think that if you own a business such as this and you tell a person that you can file for a *** reimbursement then that is what should take place. I do know that my husband's doctor filled out the paperwork. I think it would be considered fraud to operate and claim to have the power to fill out *** paperwork, then not follow through.

Desired Outcome

I would like for this business to find out and pursue just what happened to my husband's *** reimbursement and why it has taken us 7 months of waiting only to be treated so poorly when I call to check. The owner had an immediate attitude. Definitely not my idea of what should have taken place if you run a business such as this.
