Response: There were several charges made which I will try to respond to in order of letter: Communication - from the beginning it was handled over the phone because customer was out of townAll rules were read to her concerning fees and building rulesThere was never any indication she did not
understand nor did she ask any questions that were not answeredUnwanted opinions - there were no opinions given to Ms***, just the rules pertaining to the rental of our buildingOne of the exceptions we took after she arrived to decorate was the blocking of a large front window in front of our bar areaMs*** was told she could not block the window and also block the bar serving areaShe decided to do it anyway and was told again later when members arrived to chaperone the event it had to come downIt was unsafe in that members working the bar could not see outside as to who was approaching and it hindered access to the bar by customersBar sales a scam - our rule for having a bar is that the customer is charged $deposit to have a bar set upWe even refund $of that so long as the bar sales from that event exceed $Ms***'s event fell short of the minimum for a refundShe was aware of this the night the event endedThe only purpose for the deposit is that it cost to stock the barThis way it is not at our expenseIt is not a means to make money as she describesNot able to heat up food - Ms*** did use oven to heat up foodAll of their food was warmed up in our kitchenWhat they did was turn oven on high as if to cook and this did cause some smoking but it cleared and they continued to useWe clearly state on our contract that the kitchen can be used for warming only, no cookingNice words towards *** *** - a member was talking to one of her nephews, just to meet him and introduce himselfThe nephew commented on where they lived or came fromA place in MarylandThe member commented to the nephew only, " I did not know any blacks lived in that area." Apparently Ms*** overheard it and made it out to be a racist comment and it was never intended that way or taken that way by anyone else, nor did the nephew take any exceptionWe have been in existence as an established organization representing the West End community in Louisville for over yearsWe take great pride in knowing we have always worked well with city government, the University of Louisville and othersNever has the Yearling Club been accused or been involved in any actions as she describesDiversity is a key component of our missionThe event went on for the full time, all attendees seemed to have enjoyed themselves including Ms***, and as usual several people commented on how nice it all wasWhen I was informed Ms*** had taken some exceptions, I personally tried to reach her at ( ###-###-#### ) several times and got no answer but did leave voice message of who I wasAs of this date I have not heard from Ms***We are very sorry to know that Ms***, after the event, decided she was handled wrongIt's ironic that her family here in Louisville is having another event at our club this Saturday, May They attended her event April We also regret getting the Revdex.com involved in this matter and apologize to you for thatPlease feel free to reach me as neededThank you, *** D*** President, Yearlings Club Inc
