Thermal Tech Exteriors NEVER had our permission to add spouting to the house & garage as replacement properly repairing the roof on the back of the garageTheir contract states all bad wood would be replaced which they did not do, Their are in BREACH OF THEIR OWN CONTRACT! I have no idea where they thought this would even be considered as an option to properly fixing the garage roof I am mailing my response to you please let me know when you receive my letter.I will also send a copy of the contract however I can not find any kind of warranty with our paperwork

In response to the customer's latest letter we have just a few more points, and consider this matterclosedOn the day the project started the storm that moved through the area was not minimalTherewas reported wind damage in a three county areaI only say this because as any roofing professionalwould tell you that a roof that has been dried in will not leak unless it is disturbed by high windsYesthere were old torn debris tarps on site.....you know the ones workers spread on the ground to makecleanup easier!? These old tattered tarps would have been of no use against this storm the same as newonesWhy? Again because a roof dried in is waterproofA storm loosened an area and caused a leak.We rectified the situationThe roofing crew does not live in LoganThat is where our office isYes it tookhours or however long it took, but the fact is they did come backWhen wind removes staples etcbelieve it or not it does require the product to be reattachedThis in no way implies improperinstallation or that enough staples were not usedThis is what we call an act of GodThe issue of thegutter is a lieShe is correct in saying she did not want the gutter, but her husband didShe stated it washis shed and he could do what he wanted, Again they had a choice and made itHave no doubt herhusband agreed, with her approval for the gutter to be installedI swear that on the souls of mychildrenThey were asked multiple times before I left, and I explained repeatedly it is this or thatAchoice was madeThe gutter was not on the original contract because they did not purchase gutter. This analogy is like going to a hamburger shop, buying said hamburger, realizing you forgot to ask forcheese, but feel you should receive it anywayThe old gutter was left per husbands request because hewanted to recycle itWhen I went out to the home again the same day gutter was installed he was askedif still wanted the old gutter, and he responded "yes" [redacted] would not know this because she was nothomeI would also be interested if any other business in the Nation would complete a job, and waitweeks for the customer to "feel" like contacting them to receive paymentI was told by the husbandthat his wife had not had any time to look aver the job, and they would try to call next weekAfterwaiting, yes I placed call as did another representativeThis is how business worksThe customer wasnever pressured to sign or release any paymentThey did so on their own accountI did also tell her Iwas turning the file over to collections because this is what you do when people won't pay for workperformedAgain I never pressured or told her she needed to pay, only what are you going to dobecause we are not waiting any longerRemember they were not returning our calls!! This went on forweeks after the project was completedI am sure any person would feel the same way if payrollforgot to issue them a check for work completed, and continue to dodge them? The contract also doesNOT state "all bad wood replaced period." It states bad wood replaced at our decisionMy offer stillstands to tear off the shed roof, install new sheeting again, and roof with no rafter work, only after theypay for the gutter system installed to their home

our roof still has wet rotten wood on it because the company we contracted to repair and replace the roof has breached the contract We showed we had every intention of honoring the contract it is now time for MrB*** owner of the Thermal Tech Exteriors to also do the honorable thing and repair the roof properly.Against our better judgement we signed the contract and allowed MrB*** to get his money thinking our "Good Faith effort" would give him incentive to do the honorable thing and repair the roof properly as the contract read and how his son presented it to us! The only solution is to tear off the old wet wood and repair the roof as it should have been repaired The company knew when the estimate was given the she roof was in very bad shape, but the still assured us all bad wood would be replaced, however that is not how they repaired the roof, they just covered it up hoping we would never know.MrB*** assumed that by talking to us about adding gutters rather than repairing the roof correctly was a go because that is what he his intentions along, that is why Drew did not add the gutters to the estimate We in no way agreed to the gutters taking place or the proper roof repair NOT HAPPENING!It is almost laughable that he compared the issue to going to a hamburger joint and ordering a hamburger then you realize that you wanted a cheeseburger Well the idea is adding a slice of cheese is a quick fix...EXACTLY THE IDEA OF THE GUTTER, COVER UP WET WOOD IF THEY FIGURE IT OUT WE'LL ADD GUTTERS AS A QUICK FIX! I feel this was the intention all along and why estimate did not include gutters.Yes we were very muc pressured to sign the paperwork, we did not avoid his calls however are busy and simply do not always check out house voice mails, they also had our cell numbers but never called them We got back with him in DAYS not weeks as he implied. The idea that he considers himself a Professional roofer is almost laughable A True Professional Roofer would have made sure precautions were taken with the customer's property and we would not have had the leaks, Obviously the roof had not been dried in properly Just how would MrB*** like this to happen to his own property and the contractor refused to fix the problem? If MrB*** really wants this matter resolved he will do what an honorable businessman would do and step up to the plate and repair our roof properly, replacing all band wood including rafters if needed, they are also wood!

Yes it took3 hours or however long it took, but the fact is they did come back. When wind removes staples etcbelieve it or not it does require the product to be reattached. This in no way implies improperinstallation or that enough staples were not used. This is what we call an act of God. The issue of thegutter is a lie. She is correct in saying she did not want the gutter, but her husband did. She stated it washis shed and he could do what he wanted, Again they had a choice and made it. Have no doubt herhusband agreed, with her approval for the gutter to be installed. I swear that on the souls of mychildren. roof was dried inproperly, but unfortunately the unusually high winds blew up a small portion of the synthetic felt and a smallamount of water penetrated the deck. After receiving the call (it was after 6:00pm) the installer wascontacted, and returned to rectify the issue. Yes it took a few hours to round up supplies/people, and returnto her home as they do not reside in New Lexington. This problem was addressed by us offering to replacethe small ceiling in the kitchen. The kitchen has old dated ceiling tile in it. Since it could not be matched a fulltear out would be needed. I was informed they dld not wish for us to perform this task because it was toodifficult for them to arrange for someone to let us into the home. Mr. [redacted] advised me that the projectcould be completed for around 125.00 in materials, and he would rather do it. I told them that was fine, and Iwould also compensate them for their time. A check in the amount of 500.00 was issued and cashed bycustomer for release of ceiling liability. This home has been a victim of deferred maintenance for quite sometime. The old roof had experienced many leaks over the years, and had 2 layers. Due to the age of home, andadditional weight the overhangs, or soffits, are twisted, and bowed. In addition the fascia boards are twistedand bowed. I explained to the customer numerous times that steel lays to contour of the boards. Wereplaced these trim pieces at her request. One piece was dented, and it was replaced as well. She alsorequested areas of the trim be caulked though this is something we NEVER do. Caulking rake trim on a steelroof has ZERO effect on if it will leak or not! Period!! They tried to make it out like we purposely did notcomplete this step, but that is not the case. They wanted it caulked, so we caulked it. Now on to theattached block shed to rear of garage. This shed is in poor shape. Our contract stated rotten wood to bereplaced at our discretion. Our discretion. This building was in horrid disrepair for probably decades. The old4 plus layers of roofing has twisted and bowed the rafters. At no time were we ever going to install newrafters on any part of home or garage. Some of the wood was rotted, and was removed, but I decided to resheetthe entire deck at no additional cost to the customer. Yes the new roof still has a bow in the ridgebecause of the years of added weight, but was made 100% stronger due to my action. Upon arrival Iexplained to the customer that the small area of damp wood (wood was damp by no action of ours) would befine and dry within a few days due to the construction of our materials and the fact of the open fly rafters onbuilding. After [redacted] voiced her concern I told her I had no issue tearing off metal, the new decking, and whatwas left of the old to start over again, but the end result would still be a bowed ridge because I am notinstalling new rafters because we were not supposed to. Her husband then started talking about how hewished they had paid for new gutters. After discussion they both decided that if I installed new seamlessgutter to the home, garage, and shed that the matter would be closed. I find it quite amusing that afteraccepting over 1500.00 in free gutter work they now have an issue again with the shed. They were given achoice, and made it. This issue has went on for weeks, and weeks. After my initial visit she provided me witha list. While I did not agree with all concerns every single item was addressed. They were to have contactedme the night that we finished. No call for over 8 days even after leaving messages. When she did finally callback I was presented with a new list. Again these items were completed without complaint. Once again overa week before contact. A few key details however have been left out. Not once did I ever demand paymentfrom the customer. This job was financed. They signed a satisfaction completion certificate, they talked tothe lender and released payment. I received no down payment to start the project. I offered to replace theshed roof, but remember THEY decided on gutter instead, only now to complain in order to try and ruin myreputation. Once again I will tear off the shed roof, sheeting we installed, remove remaining 1x4 (roof willlook worse than it does now) to rafter and start again, but NO RAFTER WORK, and only if they pay in advancefor the seamless gutter system installed to their home. In closing, since the completion of this project wehave received a little over 5 inches of rain, high damaging winds, and yes you guessed it NO LEAKS!!! I alsohad 3 other certified steel roof installers look at this project as well as a representative from themanufacturer, and all stated it was correctly installed. It is our desire to ensure every customer is happy. Ihave never had an issue going above and beyond as I want all customers to be happy. I know I did this withthe [redacted], but as we all know sometimes no matter how much you give, and try, some people are neverhappy. I am also enclosing a copy of signed completion certificate stating that the work was completed totheir satisfaction.
