Thermo-Seal Windows Siding & Roofing, Inc. Reviews (4)

Hired company to install 10 windows, siding and a roof on my home. Job was excellent, and professionally done. Would highly recommend.

Hired Thermo Seal to replace our existing windows, siding, and roof. Job was excellent from start to finish. Everything was done as promised and my house looks beautiful. Would definitely use them again.

Review: I really wasn't in the market for new windows as much as I was looking for a solution to a noise issue that was getting progressively worse in particularly in the master bedroom of my two story home. Mr. Aaron R[redacted] of Thermo Seal Windows was the only window company I met with that guaranteed his replacement windows would solve my problems as he had something called acoustical windows. Needless to say Thermo -Seal windows did not solve the problem. When I tried to discuss this matter with Mr. R[redacted], I was told that he had done an inspection of the windows, and that he did a great job'. I tried to explain that that was not really the case, but it was very hard to carry on a conversation with Mr. R[redacted] and I had to resort to texting just to be heard, and that did not get us anywhere either. As it turns out, I decided to reach out directly to the manufacturer of the windows, Harvey Building Products and I had a long conversation with the gentleman who is in charge of their window department. He explained to me that in no way should anyone claim that their acoustical windows would solve the problem I described. He said that although the windows on their own would make a difference as a sound barrier, it would only solve my problem if it was done in conjunction with other sound proofing measures. He went on to say that he would have instead suggested going with their acoustical storm window at a fraction of the cost and then in just the master bedroom to see how that worked. This information is in direct contrast to my conversation with Mr. R[redacted]. In fact, when I mentioned meeting with a sound proofing specialist, he retorted that that was 'nonsense'. What frustrates me even more was that he told me I would need to replace all of my windows with acoustical ones in order to solve the problem. So there in fact is the nature of my complaint. I believe I was sold a bill of goods that I may not have needed, or at the very least, could have gotten away with the storm shutter in conjunction with some minor sound proofing work. I would also like to add two other issues that make this transaction even harder to swallow. One was that the installation crew apparently needed to move a couch that was in there way. Not sure what transpired exactly, but it appears that rather than lift the furniture, they pushed it and left some scratch marks in my newly finished hard wood floor. I didn't really think much of it at first, but I did send a picture to Mr. R[redacted] just for the record. Unfortunately I know very little about the staining of hardwood floors as it appears that in order to repair the scratches, the whole floor had to be redone. Mr. R[redacted] has made no offer to pay for the damage to the floor saying he did not see any scratches when he did his inspection. And lastly, and probably the deciding factor as to why I decided to file the complaint form, is that having not come to a common understanding with Mr, R[redacted] as to my concerns about this project, I decided to request that the one remaining window that was to be installed at a later date be kindly refunded to me as it was included in the price. Mr. R[redacted] agreed to that but I was shocked to see that he refunded me the price of a regular window rather than an acoustical window that was installed through out the second floor. I have documentation confirming that in fact the last remaining window was also supposed to be acoustical.Desired Settlement: As fo a desired outcome I could only hope to be refunded difference for the price of the acoustical windows versus the storm windows I probably could have gotten away with at the very least. I would also like to be compensated for the damage to my hard wood floor and be refunded for the correct price for an acoustical window that I was billed for but did not receive.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Subject: Case: [redacted] Good Morning, I would like to keep my case open if I could as the only response I have thus received from the the business I filed the complaint on was a threat and a degrading comment saying I was a '[redacted]'. Apparently there are two partners in this business and the second one also got aggressive with me on the phone but then calmed down once he heard the details and the facts I have in my possession. He has been trying to mediate the problem and I assumed he would be countering with an offer to rectify the matter but has not as of yet. Please let me know how I may keep this case open. Sincerely,[redacted]

Response:

Had a few pleasant conversations with [redacted]. I am fully prepared to pay [redacted] for the acoustical bathroom window which he wanted for his future bathroom project but has decided not to want now. In addition I am fully prepared to reimburse [redacted] for the scratched floor that he said we did. Unfortunately, I cannot reimburse for the 12 acoustical double hungs, Bay Window, and Garden Window which were all custom built, ordered and fully installed at [redacted]'s home. I am available to speak with [redacted] anytime at [redacted]. Sincerely[redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I appreciate that [redacted] is making an attempt to make right on this most frustrating situation. I also appreciate [redacted]'s offer to discuss the matter further by phone, but as the crux of us coming to a mutual agreement is based on an accurate and honest cost of each of the windows installed I think it in our best interest to discuss the matter here where the facts can be clearly stated. I say this because I have gotten two different sets of costs for the actual breakdown of each window for the project depending on whether I am trying to speak to Mr. R[redacted] or whether I am speaking to [redacted]. As it stands now, I am happy with the Bay Window and the Box Window. What we need to do is to determine the actual cost of the acoustical windows. I am suggesting that since in fact these windows did not solve my noise issue in any way, that I be compensated for the difference of what regular triple pane windows would have cost and what I paid for the upgrade to the accoustical windows. Moving forward should this not be acceptable to [redacted] and Mr. R[redacted] I would kindly request that the Revdex.com at least keep this complaint on public view so that others not fall into the same scenario, especially with the very unprofessional way Mr. R[redacted] initially handled my complaint. Thank you for your time and assistance in this matter.[redacted]

Aaron and Bob were a pleasure to work with. Thermo-seal replaced the windows in my grandparents home, and also did some siding work for the home. Everything looks great, was a reasonable price, and we felt comfortable 100% of the way through. Thanks again thermo-seal!
