My experience with Zebra insurance has been overwhelmingly negative I used Zebra to insure the car I just purchased and, and I told the Zebra agent that I needed full coverage as it was a financed vehicleHe told me that, for my make and model, it would be $156/month for the cheapest plan through KemperI signed up as I needed insurance to complete the car purchase, but felt like that was unnecessarily expensiveI called Geico the next day and they quoted me $106/month with for the same policy with additional rental car and uninsured motorist coverageThere was no $broker fee for bogus service - the agent lied about the cheapest available policy, I still wound up doing all the work on my own, and was able to do much better on my own for a lower insurance rateWhat's more, they charge a $cancellation fee, so I pretty much just wasted $on their servicesThe customer service people took over a week to respond to my complaint, and the insurance agent I worked with to cancel my policy was incompetent (took a week to process the request - only heard yesterday (3/23) that the request I put in on 3/was complete)Avoid at all costs
I never signed up for their email list and they have bombarded me despite multiple efforts to unsubscribe from their lists Additional variations for their companies continue to bombard my inbox They are spammers!
After getting the initial information about what The Zebra was going to provide, I began filling out the information required to give the best possible insurance quote for my vehicle( please note that I had responded that I wanted information on life insurance quotes, not auto insurance.) After spending what seemed like an emormous amount of time answering the same questions multiple times (45+ minutes) I ended up in a loop where I was constantly asked if I wanted to add an additional vehicle to the policyI found no way to get out of that loop as I did not want to add an additional vehicleIt was at that point I began to wonder about the whole process as many of the quotes seemed higher than what I was currently paying and had personally checked on my own about one year prior The service provided by The Zebra is promoted to be a fast and efficient way to compare multiple companies
The first issue I had was they asked what kind of insurance I was interested in, and listed several options of which I responded life insuranceI never got to any information on that-everything was related to auto insurance which was not what I desiredI finally just closed everything out and then began dealing with being bombarded by the various insurance companies seeking to write an insurance policy on my vehicle I politely answered the first contact call from each of the agencies, listened to their proposal, and then politely thank them for their time but let them know that I was not interested -basically I did not need to be contacted again My understanding at the beginning of this process was that there was no obligation to accept a quote from any insurance company, although I would be contacted by themI understood this and agreed to be contacted from various agencies-but not to the point of multiple contacts after telling them I was not interestedI felt like it was borderline harassment and some cases
Out of curiosity, I took my personal time to call five agencies, randomly chosen, and was able to get five quotes in less than minutesI spent close to 45+ minutes on The Zebra's service and I was not even close to being done
I would assume that the offer of a $gift card in exchange for some time and information, and supposedly no obligation to accept any of the quotes would spark interest in most people But my time is worth something, and as much as I would have been thrilled to get a gift card of any amouthis is a period where it would be greatly beneficial to us financially-I don't need to spend that much time filling out information and then the additional time in dealing with the repetitive non-solicited calls ( only referred to as non-solicited after I thanked the agencies for their time and asked to not be contacted anymore)
My suggestion to anyone who is interested in pursuing various competitive auto insurance quotes: if one has plenty of time and doesn't mind being bombarded after speaking to agents after the initial contact, I would investigate using this serviceI have found that it is much quicker, more accurate, a better use of my time, and more efficient to call agencies of my choice for competitive quotes for the kind of insurance in which I am interested
