To Whom It May Concern:Thomas Edison State College has investigated this issue and has also responded directly to the student regarding her inquiry to Revdex.comThomas Edison State College has several tuition plan options used to enroll in the College. The Comprehensive Tuition Plan the
student chose is a 12-month plan wherein the student pays a flat fee and may take up to credits within their enrollment year. The plan expires months to the day from when the student pays the tuition amount. When the expiration date is reached, the student must pay the upcoming year’s enrollment tuition to remain matriculated. The student reenrolled in the College in October with a financial balance due at the time. During her enrollment year, she incurred additional costs for enrollment and credits taken as well as receiving financial aid. She did not receive a sufficient amount of financial aid to cover her charges and did not make any personal payments to offset that balance. Subsequently, there is a substantial balance due and her account is on financial hold. She was notified by the Bursar and Financial Aid offices on several occasions regarding the steps needed to resolve her situation. She did not follow those steps. She was advised of the College’s administrative appeals process but did not choose to utilizeit. She has been informed that that option is still available to her.Thank you.Sincerely,Linda MM***Chief of StaffThomas Edison State College

However, in responding to requests for information, our University is bound by a federal law, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974. FERPA prohibits the University from sharing information concerning a student’s education records, including financial matters, without the student’s written consent.                In order to address the concerns, our University would have to share personally identifiable information from the student's education records with the Revdex.com. Therefore, following is the link to the Consent to Release Student Information form that we must receive prior to releasing such information.   http://www.tesu.edu/documents/Consent_to_Release_Student_Information.pdf    Once we have received the signed consent form, the University will be happy to respond as requested. I am rejecting this response because:  I did not receive the previous email regarding the response of the school. Although they said that they reached out to me directly, I also did not receive that communication.I do not agree with the resolution. The resolution from the school contained blatant lies and I will be glad to provide proof of that. They continue to ascertain that I was notified of the day on which I would be required to remit payment but I was not. I challenge the school to provide proof of this communication.Thank you

Review: I have consistently had many issues with TESC, varying from things as fundamental as teachers not knowing how to use the private student-mentor forum to things like misinformation from the financial aid office.

My most recent issue is the billing history on my account. I have opened numerous tickets with request for help and instead of addressing my concerns, people just keep sending me a "complete breakdown" of my bill.

In the summer, I applied and was approved for FAFSA aid. When I tried to enroll, I was told that there was a Bursar's hold on my account, so aid couldn't be disbursed. When I tried to get the hold lifted, I was told that the hold couldn't be lifted until I paid the outstanding amount of $304. I was frustrated with this because I had been approved for FAFSA aid upwards of $10,000 for the year before. When I request a deferment of aid, I am assuming that I will not be forfeiting some of that aid unless I am told by the financial aid office when they approve my request.

Nevertheless, my most recent issue and the one I am most eager to solve is the issue of my outstanding bill. When I called and spoke to an academic advisor about 4-6 weeks ago, he checked and clarified with me that my outstanding balance (which I would need to pay out of pocket) was $304. This is what I had been told since August and while it was frustrating, it had been consistent. I called about a week ago to pay the $304 and was told that instead of $304, it was now upwards of $1000. When I asked why, the woman could not explain the difference but suggested that I open a ticket to the financial aid office and the Bursar's office, which I did. I received an email back from Nancy B[redacted] which stated that I had been told that if I did not pay the $304 before a certain date, that it would go up. That is a complete fallacy. I have gone through all of the tickets again and do not see that written anywhere. I was told that I would need to pay $304 and I simply cannot pay any more.Desired Settlement: Initially I would have been perfectly satisfied paying the $304, even though I did not agree with the way that the billing was done. At this point, however, because this issue has put me at a 6 month deficit, coupled with the hours that I have spent on the phone trying to repair the situation (I have left messages at the dean's office), I think it only fair that my account is brought back into good standing without me having to pay anything more, so that I can complete my degree at TESC.

I also suggest that you go through my ticket history and take note of the wealth of tickets that simply did not receive a response, tickets that received an irrelevant response, tickets that gave conflicting information between departments, and even, in my first semester at TESC, conflicting information from one woman who told me one thing and then reneged on it later, only acquiescing when I was able to dig through my emails and find proof of the permission she had given me previously. Thank you.

Review: In October I entered a contract with Thomas Edison State College that I would pay tuition for a year or(36 credits) and they would process my [redacted] Benefits. The purpose of the GI BIll benefit is for the veteran to live on while attending school. TESU systematically refuses to change their policy to enable me to purchase items that I need for school. I was informed during application process that the Office Of Military and Veterans affairs would assist my success. To date this contract is not being honored by the school. They also aren't honoring the schedule given to my state for unemployment. The major I was accepted in is no longer acceptable to me because of the lack of educational support I am given.Desired Settlement: Policy Change that supports the contract that the school makes with their veteran customers.

If the school fails to take care of their students as the contract guarantees , they should have to pay our of pocket costs of students.

I want a refund of tuition due to breech of contract.
