Dear [redacted] We received the letter regarding Mr [redacted] complaint and I am emailing you as per your request Mr [redacted] had asked us to prepare an amended tax return This was after both he and his wife filed their original, separate tax returns We informed him and his wife that filing a joint amended return would produce a better result The deadline to file an amended tax return is up to three years after the submission of the original The return was prepared prior to the end of April Hardly an untimely prepared return, as Mr [redacted] stated Mr [redacted] did call repeatedly We, however, were busy working on peoples 1st income tax returns, trying to get them done before the IRS's deadline We did speak with Mr [redacted] when pertinent information needed to be obtained Mr [redacted] stated that we charged excessive fees for our services Mrs [redacted] came to see us three times and both she and Mr [redacted] phoned quite frequently We bill according to the time required to build and prepare a return Both the orignal filing of Mrs [redacted] return as well as the amended return took a substantial amount of time Our fee schedule is also under our domain, much like any business, and quite frankly, we've been told more often than not that we are "too cheap."
