Thomas J. Fannon And Sons, Inc Reviews (1)

Review: TJ Fannon installed a new furnace for us several years ago, and a few years ago, installed an A/C unit. Our furnace/AC unit is located in the attic. About two months ago, during a period of high heat and humidity, I noticed water dripping from our attic floor onto our second story floor. When I investigated, the drip pan under the furnace/AC unit was overflowing. TJ Fannon sent a technician to investigate. the Technician reported that due to faulty installation, the condenser coil in the furnace was tilted improperly so the condensation was dripping into the drip pan instead of the outside drain. When I called to set up the repair appointment, I discussed the situation with Tom Fannon Jr, and he indicated that "we will take care of it" with no charge. the repair was completed promptly, and there has been no further incident. however, I was billed $155.00 for the repair 30 days after the repair. When I called to inquire, the billing department said they would check into it. I didn't hear back from them, but now I have a bill for $155.00 again showing 60 days past due. When I called again (today), I was told that this was a discounted bill and that the $155.00 was to fix the "leak", not the incorrect installation. The person I was talking to could not describe the leak, and would not eliminate the charge. the technician who originally investigated the problem did not mention a "leak" due to anything other than incorrect installation.Desired Settlement: I would like Fannon to adjust their billing to $0, as they committed; or, provide exact justification on what the "leak" was, and how it was not related to the incorrect installation.

Dear [redacted]:

In March of 2010 we installed a new furnace for [redacted] at [redacted] in [redacted]. The system worked fine for a little more than three years until we received a call regarding a condensate leak on My 8,2013. The mechanic arrived and found the drain line clogged, causing the water to back up and drain into the secondary pan. This is a common occurrence in AC systems as they remove many gallons of moisture from the hot humid air during the course of a typical Washington DC summer.

While he was on site, our technician noticed that the system lacked a few safeguards that since his furnace was installed in 2010 we have incorporated into most new systems we install. We revamped the condensate drain, adding a cleanout trap and a cutoff float switch for the secondary pan at no charge to the customer.

We did charge [redacted] for clearing out the condensate drain - a problem that would have occurred even if the features we added had been included in our original installation. Our charge of $155.00 is representative of standard minimum charge for this type of service. We could have simply cleared the drain and moved on and the system would have continued to work just fine, but since [redacted] had purchased equipment from us on different occasions we added some safety features at no additional cost. The absence of these components did not contribute to the leak. Had there been a problem with our installation, this would have occurred in a matter of months rather than years.

Sincerely,

?

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

When I first attempted to resolve this matter with the business, they provided no explanation. I thank you for your presence and assistance in resolving this matter. At no time until after I filed the complaint with Revdex.com did the issue of a clogged drain come up. I have no choice butvto believe them as they did not mention it until after the complaint.
